Back from biking. Only 10 miles on the clock but we did stay in the woods and tried some new tracks and skills. My arms are more tired than my legs from trying to climb step ups and do the technical rocky downhills. Good fun afternoon, and gorgeous in the sunshine, as long as you were out of the wind!
so many pages on this thread but I cannot really claim to be a contributor these days........so here is my annual contribution...lol
I think I was in touch this time last year and things were not so good...couldnt walk after major back surgery...well time has passed and I am well on the way to recovery....even ran 5 miles today....not bad considering my total milegae for 2007 and 2008 combined was 20 miles (less than my final run of 2006) So I am so happy that I am back....plan to do the Ben Nevis triathlon in september if my body holds up....its a toughie....1.9 km swim over Loch :Linne and back...over 90 k m tough mountainbiking and a wee run up to the top of Scotland (from sea level) and back down again.
Love to do another marathon soon.
Great to see the usual suspects keep the thread going...my next absence will not be so long
sorry....wee bit boozy as I was at the game this afternoon and a few beers and nips afterwards....for the uninitiated....Aberdeen 4 Celtic 2...happy days
Bloody hell Cal - good to see you again - I picked up on tritalk that you had had some sort of surgery - glad that it worked and that you are on the way back
Aye phys1... I ran New York in 2005......saying that never met at the pre arranged forum meet at top of Empire State as I was there on time..and others were a wee bit late but met Maddy, Paul and Hanneke et al in London in Nov 2006......just prior to my injury....hey nae bad for someone who lives in Aberdeen.
Missed your posts C, its nice to know who more people are. I'm really boring, only hanging out on here.... and there's only really 4 of us reguarly left now!
Only 5ish miles done this morning due to circumstances beyond my control. The longer run will have to wait until later in the week. Annoyingly as well my Garmin has measured the run at 4.78 miles, but has in the past measured the same run at as much as 5.25 miles. It loses me in the woods and must connect the route back up and it depends how much of a corner it knocks off! I felt like I was running well today and would have interested to know my real pace.
My side has flared up again - the Dr thinks my intercostal muscles are inflamed whcih apparently can be caused by a virus - blood tests on Friday. I was struggling to walk just after thins mornins post - will still try to run as it shouldn't affect it the painkillers have kicked in abit
Yes, it is nasty when your intercostals are inflamed... mine do from time to time because of the Ankylosing Spondilitis... and did last week for a couple of days. High dose of ibuprofen usually does the trick, but you need to find out why this happens...
Back on the Welsh Borders and track tonight
I also have been given my first cycling race date: 19 April... wibble...
Have you tried to run Maddy? That pain sounds nasty, if you're struggling to walk maybe running isn't a good idea?
I am frozen after 3 hours of teaching in a very chilly school hall. The heating is on the blink and it just doesn't stay warm enough when its this cold outside. Not great for my clients either, its a bit difficult to relax when you're shivering!
Good on MrsA, she's got plenty of time to build up... Is she planning to beat you?
I've gone with the middle value and put my run down as a 5 miler. Its my regular run that I do all the time but I get a different value on the Garmin every time I run it. I'm still only on page 97 though.

Hi Paul
Good news that MrsA is doing so well...... is she in training for something?
Caledonian! Good to see you and glad the back has recovered
Back to the Welsh Borders again tomorrow, after loading up our goodies at the fair. Phew, it was tiring...

Alternate days running makes today the next run

What is your cycle race too Han?
Rest day for me today so no miles to report.
Mrs a is going to run a HM in Jan 10, so just building some base miles.

Half marathon is a decent distance Paul!! You need to remember that you're a bit wierd in thinking that anything shorter than 26 is worthless.
I'm a one marathon a year girl me. Or maybe one every 2 years on recent form.
Nite nite
