Must agree that haddock is better than cod. And ALL the skin has to be removed before the batter is put on. The Scots are about the only ones who get that part right.
btw when wifey was interfering she got it so all piccys came up at the side of every posting is that normal or have i broken summat? Obviously she can't remember how she did it!
You may be surprised to know that I agree about chips and Yorkshire, although I prefer to combine with Will's approach. The best I've had in the last ten years were from Whitby.
I always have haggis from the chippy when in Scotland.
Dull stuff but did you lot know that those poor little fishies are on the verge of the endangered species list because of over fishing? tut tut you flesh eating types!!
What's the point of the eistence of cod and haddock, apart from to be eaten? They're like cows. If we didn't eat them, the species would be extinct by now. They'd be slaughtered like rabbits in a cornfield to make room for crops of seaweed.
Glenn - One or two i've been t do it - some chippys do a complete range of fish - but you have to be willing to wait about while it cooks
Mr C – we have to face it, but the way we are going, as a species, we a slowly destroying the very planet we live on and eventually we will wipe out every other species on the planet
Mr C – I don’t think we should help things on the way, but we should be finding a way to turn things around
I don’t think giving up flesh is the answer – we have evolved as flesh eaters (hence the type of teeth we have)
Governments and normal people should be looking at the bigger picture – such as the use of sustainable power – such as wind instead of saying this these windmills look horrible people should see how they benefit the planet instead of being petty about such things
People and local councils should be penalised for not making enough effort to recycle – local governments should be providing more recycling centres and offering greater tax incentives to GREENER companies – we cannot continue burying our rubbish and burning it destroys the planets ozone layer
Its only by taking advantage of such big wins that we actually stand a chance of turning the tide of planetary destruction. –

Firstly and most importantly - The Wetherby Whaler is probably the best chippy in the country
I've just been for my lunchtime stroll around Guiseley and it didn't burn my eyes out but its not my favourite place (Yeadon even less). Sorry to any residents of either place.
When it comes to the planet it just a shame that people drop rubbish all over the place. It'd be a start if we could just stop doing that. I could go on for hours but won't.
I agree whole heartedly WW . i am an abstainer through treatment of animals not the actual eating, i am not a meat hater by any means! Afternoon Barkles

We use haddock in Yorks whereas most other parts of the country use Cod.
I cant work it out. Must be the piece of Cod that defies all explanation.
Hope it wasn't something I said, or was it a chance of that snog with EP....
Haddocks the fish for me.
I always have haggis from the chippy when in Scotland.
I like it too but you can't get it from chippies. Can you?
