Had surgery this afternoon on my hand, so I could do with couple of glasses of wine, but I can't have any alcohol for 24 hours. Funny isn't it, staying off the sauce is easy when it's your own idea but when it's enforced that's different!
Cooking for Mrs RK tonight and may pop out for a quick drink, but that's it for this weekend. Pleased with that as I would usually always have a drink on Saturday. Also went out with 6 colleagues in Manchester on Tuesday night and I drunk water and hit the hotel gym at 6.30 the next morning. Boy did I feel smug at breakfast the next morning when they said they were feeling jaded! So overall, my alcohol consumption has cut significantly which I'm most pleased about.
Well done Maddy!
I hope everyone else is where they hope to be as well.
Well done Kev - both on the cooking and the restraint alcofrolicwise
I went to a wedding last weekend and relaxed and enjoyed. I didn't keep tabs on the drink because there were waiters topping up and a couple bottles of wine on the table. I also had time with family that I don't see often enough.
My concern was what would happen when I came home. Would my body (and mind) be craving more? Actually no, straight back on the wagon and no thought of having a drink. I did have a discussion with one of my brothers and we came to the conclusion that it was ok and even wise not to start the 100 day challenge all over again, just tack 2 days on the end . It wouldn't stand up to the purists, but then I've never been one of them!
This means the 100 days finishes just before my birthday, nice timing
Good attitude Dragon - if we start obsessing then I think we actually have some sort of problem abit deeper than we want to admit - not necessarily about alcohol though.
I haven't had a drink yet this year despite some nights out and I am now at the point where I don't think about it apart from when I see someone has posted on this thread -
50 days and half way is next week for me. i will endup having a dry birthday but alcohol won't matter if I get to spend it with the people I want to I will have a laugh regardless
I'm just having the odd glass here and there...and my decisions seem to have switched from - will I have an alcohol free day - to will I have a glass of wine tonight...the former is now the default and I'm happy with that. We're going on holidays next week and I'll enjoy the local libations - then back to now what is normality...ie. many more alcohol free days as opposed to booze every night.
Hi Maddy - I'm not really still on the waggon but OH and I don't drink anything alcoholic during the week anyway. We do indulge in wine with dinner on the weekends though.
A big part of me would love to go the whole year off Maddy, but it seems a bit daunting at the minute? I might have a real go at 100 days and then see how I feel. Anyway, day 2 well underway and just going to get some diet coke for later.
Well, back to work tomorrow so should be an easier few evenings ahead. Have to be up early in the week so don't really drink much mon to Fri anyway. How are you both doing?
I am doing OK - back to work tomorrow means less time on my hands so less boredom and less temptation. Alsp I am a contractor and only started this contract at the start of December so January is going to be a little bit tight to start with anyway. I don't stop thinking about it until February.
Well, a bit of a helping hand here. Injured back and have heavy duty tablets which you can't drink with for a week! Not ideal but every cloud etc. etc. not good for training purposes though.
Hope you are doing OK and being back at work wasn't too bad.
Bit of a downsized wagon this year then peeps. Firstly well done for last year, secondly well done this year. I am only on day 3 having been weak at the weekend. See what I did there? Am just looking for the month at the most but will see how it goes. Am thinking about a 10k at the start of Feb as a goal but have had 4 months off due to calf hemorrage and ensuing malaise. Might be a bit too much too soon through!

A couple of planned beers on the weekend but back on the wagon until Friday - Valentines Day!
I am still rolling and nearly at the point where I don't think about it on a Friday
Well done on the moderation/abstinence which ever you are all doing
Hi all - Happy Valentines Day.

Despite it being Valentines and we were child free, limited my night off to 4 Guinness and 1 glass of wine so please with that.

Hi All, back to routine and my alcohol consumption has reduced by at least 50% - really pleased with this.
Not a good weekend though as it was Mrs RK's birthday and we went to Cardiff for the rugby.
However, back to it this week.
I was in Cardiff Sat night - and in an Irish pub - stuck to the J2O
Well done Maddy!
60% of the way through tomorrow
Hello how are we all doing
I am still rolling for 100 days - I htink its the longest Ihave done for many years

Is it time to re-grease the wheels again?
No plans for new years eve at present so might start early
Saw the Dryathlon ad on TV the other day:

I think maybe it shouldn't have made drinking look quite so much fun.
Hi all. Who is back for the annual trip on the waggon then?
Hi FF
I am
well day one already over
I lasted til the start of April last year
I’m in - day one done.
I’ve set myself a 100 day challenge, that finishes on the 14th April by my reckoning. Just before my birthday
I can't remember my day count but I was definately drinkng at Mudchute so probably not quite 100 days.
A quiet part of me wants to have the year off but I also don't want to set myself up to fail
A big part of me would love to go the whole year off Maddy, but it seems a bit daunting at the minute? I might have a real go at 100 days and then see how I feel. Anyway, day 2 well underway and just going to get some diet coke for later.
Sorry Dragon, Hi to you as well!
well as we all want to do 100 days already lets focus on that for now
