Decided 100 days is the target it takes so long to break a habit bit it takes me twice as long to embed new ones so I have a general target of where I want to be in 100 days
100 days is a good target. its not that far away as to seem impossible. I'm combining my attempt with a weight loss target. I'm not actually fat, thats just an old nickname but i'm probably about 1.5 stone heavier than I should be so I'm looking to lose a stone in the 100 days. Then we'll see what happens. I'm hoping I'll be feeling sufficiently good to want to keep going.
Better late than never Snap! I had a planned night off a couple of days ago for a belated Xmas social, but am now firmly back on. To be honest after a couple of weeks off I didnt actually enjoy it that much.
I might have a couple of socials in the next few weeks but I am equally as capable as being smutty and lewd without drink so hopefully no one will notice
This was quite a boring affair. No smut or lewdness. Mores the pity.
Another weekend of healthy living and relaxation looms. Drink of choice tonight will be fizzy water and lime squash. Am already looking forward to that saturday lie in with a clear head!
Yep, completed my second week. I haven't had a proper nights sleep since though. I'm wakingUlp in a sweat every night. I expected that for a few days, but two weeks seems a long time.
I don't have night sweats but I am too hot at night - I only have a summer duvet on the bed plus a blanket at the bottom end. Two years ago I would have had the mid weight on although it has to be said its milder this year so far but even on the coldest nights I am been too warm
I don't think I can face a whole month. In fact I know that I can't.
But the liver got quite a soaking in the latter part of 2015, to such an extent that I developed a bit of a daily habit. I am focussing on 5 days off per week as a minimum. There is a huge challenge for excess on the immediate horizon, including a Business Gala Dinner. Drinks on tables and all that. Coaches at midnight.
Abstaining at home I can now manage. Social drinking I can even attempt (under supervision) Letting the hair down? There is the problem. Unsupervised? High risk.
Evening Number One achieved. Free drinks were being liberally brought out with the meal. I offered to drive as it gave me a solid reason to stay off it.
Tomorrow is another day. Entirely. Although I'm not promising to be dry, I've got a more difficult challenge. Trying to stop mid flow. Unless someone can persuade me to face this as the athlete's dilemma....
Hi all. This seems to have come round quickly! Didnt get started on time this year as we were away on hols over new year. Am up and running now though.
Hello everybod! great to see the resurrection...now we just need to reach out to the others. Dark Knight, Sweetest, TP et al. Tough first 10 days and I can honestly say I am missing my evening, well deserved beer. I know I'll get the benefit but so far, no show. OH was going to join me but has decided to mercilessly tease with wine over dinner. Hmmmm. Good for the mental stamina
Joined the wagon train - nothing since Christmas day - plan to go to at least April 8th (SDW50) - mainly because I'm a little behind on training and a bit too chubby. Did a 10k Sunday in 44:37 - well short of pb but better progress than I hoped. Been hiding our left over booze - still calls from the cupboard though
So OH had dinner party for her "French group" last night and the place was awash with (my) good wine. Not a drop through my lips but inwardly the tears flowed

I was abroad for the first 9 days of the year, so it was always going to be a tough call. 2 days and counting.

15% of the way through already

Hello all! Late to this thread (this year). Nice to see the same faces on here!
Yes, I'm doing Dry January again. All going good and no falls to date.
It's going to be a very long one this year though with 5 weekends in Jan!
Keep up the good work guys.
afternoon
Hello Kev. Well three weeks in now so not long for january folks
Evening all and Hi Maddy.
Another Saturday conquered!
Weekend no. 4 done! Hope everyone is well.

Well January done and dusted and nearly a third of the way through 100 days already
Had a couple of nights out with no temptations
Dry Jan all done and dusted. Couple of beers planned for this weekend for Rugby.
Is there anybody out there this year?
Hi FF - yes me again! I'm doing dry Jan again.
I also did 6 weeks dry in the lead up to Christmas.
Had (quite) a few beers over Christmas so looking forward to drying out.

Business dinners and the like are always the worst as there seems to be a great desire by everyone to drink as much as possible as fast as possible!
Good luck.
I'll do the month then go back to 'special' occasions only which in all honesty is about once or twice a month!

Hello Al
Yes I am doing this again, first week actually seemed easier than last year. Not decided on this years target past January yet

Third of the way gone already

I'm on this wagon too - cupboards still full of leftover booze from NYE dinner party...

it will be better soon, don't be disheartened.

I'm back! Day 11 and going well. Can't say the same for my exercise regime????
And so it continues....anyone else having trouble getting to sll=eep or disturbed sleep patterns?
