Did have my races planned for 2013 but the first one (Alloa HM) is a non starter at the minute due to the metatarsal fracture.
Still keeping up the medicine ball/core work most days ,the pain in my foot is gradually easing off which is a good sign as its only just over a week since it happened. Was going to do my usual hobble on crutches to the shop and back this morning but the gale force winds and rain put paid to that.
Im hoping when i go back to the orthopedic consultant in February that all is well with the injury and i can return to some non impact training ie bike for a few weeks then hopefully test the foot with a short run.
Im still confident of getting my fitness back up and then plan to run Loch Ness again in September.
How much fitness should i expect to lose with a 6-8 week lay off?
SG- Cheers fella. Reading will be the only effort and all the rest are purely MP/tempo runs for marathon training.
Cowboy - I was always under the impression fitness starts to wain after 2 weeks of non activity. Maybe see what pain free cross training you can do in the meantime?
Tek - Not familiar with SkyDrive but I think there may be a feature that allows others to alter contents. If this is totally open public write access then I suspect this would be a bad idea. If you could set up password based access this would be ideal (keep the timewasters out) but otherwise I suspect it might be us keeping you informed.
I've not committed yet but being ambitious, marathons possibly 1. Loch Katrine (new see Scottish Runners thread) in March, 2. Cape Wrath week probably including the Marathon in May and 3. Snowdonia in October. Certainly intend doing Hoy HM and Langdale HM again probably Kirkwall - all depends on what else is happening ...
Emmy that must cost a fortune in flights and hotels!
Hope everyone gets a good last run of 2012. Nice swimming NP, is the arm any better?
F
Hey Fiona, Well I live in Belgium so it's not too hard to race on the continent as I can drive there and stay pretty cheaply. My biggest expense so far is Malta as although the registration was cheap - the hotels werent
Emmy - we're at the other extreme where even a UK mainland race means a ferry/flight with consequent expense in time and money. But Orkney's a beautiful place to live
Fiona - having done Amsterdam before I'm doing Frankfurt in 2013. Apparently faster than Berlin and a lot more interesting than Amsterdam's industrial estate and suburbs!

Nice run this morning Jason, I managed to get 50x25m front crawl done before the kids club got in the pool, out later for a nice 6 mile recovery run.
Fiona sounds like you enjoyed the shopping.
Just in from 4 miles easy
