Eggy: I don't ever want to experience it. Each time I run in really warm weather, I think of DV, his Badwater campaign and the story about running on the white line because it's slightly cooler.
Eggy: my Mum comes out with quite regular clangers. My favorite was her comment to me, pre-weightloss that, "People in x city are so fat, that even you'd feel thin there".
I agree with Yer Maj - you're perfect just as you are.
I agree with MM and Yer Maj - you're perfect as you are and don't let anyone tell you any different!
OO - Happy Birthday. I've been 50 for nearly a year now and I've never been so fit or healthy and I have never been more attractive to the opposite sex (Mrs O still loves me )
OO- Happy Birthday, still in your prime(as you get older you extend your prime years)
MM- Ran 70 minutes with 6x1 minute hill efforts in Melbourne at 5pm today, 37c at the start and still 36c at the finish, had a strong northerly which is hot and sucks all the moisture out of you.
41c forecast for tomorrow with strong northerlies, happily no running.
Wife and daughter met me at the beach and we had fish and chips for dinner, great sunset.
Thought I'd show my face again as I'm feeling a bit less depressed about running today. I've been through the denial "I just need a week off... and another... and another" phase, and having now acknowledged there's really something wrong, have set up a few appointments to try to get myself fixed.
I have two different osteopaths booked (one recommended by Erik at Watermolen, TD) and have also checked the availability of the sports medicine doctor (not booked yet though, osteos first, but availability is good).
As someone said (RS I think? anyway it helped a lot, thanks) 2013 will be a year for Berlin, not Paris. I might still jog round and see the sights though
Kaz - sorry to hear about your apendix. Although I'm glad you found the root cause of your problems. I'm kind of jealous that you had a "real" problem with a real solution and "end date", if you get what I mean. Not that I would wish appendicitis on anyone. Get well soon!
Ooh - Weedy - You've found out my secret. I use a tigertail AND after seeing RS's in Amsterdam - i also have one of these. I was given it as a joke present (it was wrapped up as a female pleasure toy...)
They are great! They hurt and make no mistake about it but they get out any knots that you might have in your legs.
I find the grid roller easier to use 'by myself'. Whereas I find the tigertail good if you know anyone that wants to inflict torture on you
Cheers all - I've got a Grid roller that I'm supposed to use four times a day, but it's a bit cumbersome to cart about with me all over the place and find somewhere to use, especially at work. Figured I could maybe use the tigertail in the car.
Neil - sorry to hear about things. Hope osteo manages to find the problem and get you back out.
Weedy - I'm not sure where you travel but I almost had my tigertail confiscated when flying out of the UK as it was seen as a 'dangerous weapon' because of the metal content.
Neil - Sorry to hear you are still on the bench. I'm thinking it's looking like jogging around Paris this year for me as well. It's obviously the year for sight seeing. I think I missed most of the sights last year in a sweaty haze of PBing.
Weedy - I had the "roller at work" delimma. In the end I found a store room which could be locked from the inside and did it there. Felt very dodgy though and I didn't do it for long!
I am officially on the 'site seeing' squad for Paris too.......
NB- Don't worry I get what you mean, partly because of the relief I now feel knowing what the root problem was and that I can now get better!! Hopefully you'll find your root cause too and soon and hopefully without as much pain as I did!!!
Happy Birthday, OO! You'll be collecting a fair few medals this year, I think. You were fast enough at the top of your last category. Now, you can stick it to the 54-year olds...
Couldn't have put it better ATM. OO is our Uber-Vet! Hoppy Birthday mister.
Tigertail looks like it would make two people happy at the same time. I've never found myself in need of such a thing Weedy. I sometimes use a very simple foam roller, like kids use as flotration aids for swimming.
Happy to report an 8.6km run today in 45mins. Nothing fell off.
Who was the osteo Neil that Erik recommended? I've used a guy before in Tervuren who has been pretty good.

DV: you have my deepest admiration.

Hi all,

Happy birthday OO!
Quick question if that's okay
Does anyone use a Tigertail or something similar?
And are they any good?

Orange roller of doom (OROD) all the way Weedy
I'm having trouble imagining that as a "female pleasure toy" ??
Yup, OROD all the way.
Danirr - The Tigertail was wrapped in a popular version of a certain rabbit toy with a bow on it.

Just a warning

Eggy - me too. I might even notice the Eiffel tower this time.

Emmy - I see. The way I read it I thought you meant the OROD was diisguised as the toy! Whew, glad to know that wasn't the case
A rabbit toy?
Like a squeaky rubber carrot?
Something like that... it vibrated too :0)
I read it the same way and couldn't work out how OROD could be a sex toy!
Another gem graphic Weedy. I said, "ANOTHER GEM" Emmy.
