Fit-Running-Cat, I'll be wearing bright green knee-high socks with shamrocks on them and probably a green bandana to keep the sweat out of my eyes. Among 8500 people though, that might not be enough to go on. And I keep my music somewhat low so I can still hear what's going on around me.
I'd be interested in taking it off your hands for the cover price (although, upthread, the guy who runs it says he is unwilling to officially transfer numbers)
Alan would you consider making the race bigger next year?
It's a shame that lots of people would still like to race but can't get in.
I would have entered this race earlier but I thought I was working this weekend, now I'm off so it would have been perfect timing in the build up to London.
The size of the race is governed by the logistical delivery requirements. The width of the promenade is too small for anything over 8,000 and there are continual problems associated with road use and in particular private land which we need for this event. Thelack of support from the local authorities in granting road closure permission along the waterfront is also a factor as we have no other route back into the city.
At the moment the limit for 2014 will be 8,000 as this year and entries will be open on Monday, 18th March. That allows the maximum time to enter and the closing date will be when all 8,000 entries are taken.
If it was a simple job of allowing more entries then we would, but it isn't.
Costal run from Wallasey Ferry on the Wirral toward New Brighton and Hoylake would give you as much as you want along the coast line. You could run a 9 mile distance and then run back, that way you can't get lost. Flat as well.
Well, only 2 days to go! Has anyone else starting checking the weather forecast? It looks like it's going to be fairly chilly and light rain, so I'm starting to think about what I'm going to wear. Also need to think about when to set my alarm for on Sunday morning but it doesn't bear thinking about!
The positive thing is that the wind is minimal which for Liverpool is a minor miracle! Happy Days!

The great thing about that route is you can easily throw in a few hill climbs if required, by heading up one of the streets that lead down to the Prom, and back down the next one!
I think the earlier the better. Last year I got there about 8 and that was plenty of time but we had car parking organised. If you are driving I would say 8 at the latest just in case you have trouble finding a parking space.
Is anyone else struggling with last minute outfit decisions? Or is that just a girl problem- I'm undecided about how cold it will feel, but I normally overheat

Hi Alan,
My number still hasn't arrived in the post.
Can you help?
Thanks Alan! And thanks for sending Yvonne my way. I'm so excited about this race and my visit in general.
Since she's wearing headphones, probably won't hear me though, so probably not bother. ahem.
Just use exaggerated arm gestures FRC....she'll be easy to spot as I'm sure no-one else will be breaking the rules
thesmallfabric - call the office 0151 236 8432.
I believe there is a gathering at Rigbys after the race. i'll see if I can call in and say hello. What will anyone be there?
Anyone know a shop in Liverpool that sells lucozade products like their jelly beans please?

BTW, I'm here! I've checked into my hotel and now I think it's time for a nap before hitting the town.
Injury has struck and I'm out!
Any ideas on what to do with my race number?? Could always use a few quid if it's transferrable!!
Iain
Hi Iain,

Let me know if you'd like to sell it onto me.
Thanks,
Pete
Good lord, I'm seriously worried that I'm going to twist my ankle on all these cobblestones!
NO TRANSFERS, REFUNDS OR DEFERRALS.

Never mind.

Does anyone know any good running routes I could do in Liverpool on Sunday?
I obviously need to keep well away from the race route.
I'm meant to be doing 18 miles as part of my marathon training, I was thinking of the Leeds/Liverpool canal is this ok to run alongside?
(I'm not from Liverpool but I'm staying here this weekend.)

What time do you need to be at the starting line? Earlier in the thread someone said to be there ~8am - was this a suggestion, or an imperative?
thanks.
Does anyone know how the turnout is looking for tonight's pasta dinner? I signed up, and I'm curious how many people might be there.
I think it was a 9:30 start last year as well, didn't the start get delayed until around 9:45?
Just popping in to wish everyone good luck for tomorrow.
Remember it is meant to be fun, enjoy it.
I just realized that I forgot to bring safety pins with me. Will there be any at the start? If not, can someone suggest a place to buy them?
Thanks Bluenose. I'll stop in on my way to the pasta dinner tonight.
