Ooooooh, ISD you're my new best friend . Coffee......mmmmmmmmmmmm.
RIGHT - after a weekend of 5 star spa luxury, that's my post-Outlaw treats well and truly over! Back to some structure as of today. I have been running and swimming and biking*, but I confess it has been fairly half-arsed. And my back has very noticeably stiffened up, which is usually due to a lack of regular movement. Off to the pool this afternoon.
Fingers crossed, legs crossed, eyes crossed that I can sort out work, holidays and family to let me get to Austria 2015. That's my next IM goal.
Look what I've got
*(weeeeellllllllll.........been on the bike once )
Me and Andy are roughly the same height and build at racing in the past I've been asked if I'm him? My stock answer of he's not this ugly tends to confuss some?
Hi all, I'm new to this forum and to triathlons!. I have been running for a long time and have been inspired by the local Iron Man Wales in my home town. I ran a 3.39 marathon this May and started to swim in Feb this year, I have got up to 1.2 miles in the sea quite easily (not that quick though but am hoping to improve on that) and brought a road bike in April this year and am up to 45 miles at the moment. My hubby is doing the Ironman wales this year and I thought I might give it a crack for next year sept 2014. Is this enough time to get myself bike fit as I was completely new to cycling in April, the advantage I have I guess is that I can train on the hideous bike course! any advise would be greatfully received
I'll leave the training advice to someone more experienced than me (that'll be everybody then), but it sounds as if you're off to a flying start and will have no problem being ready for IM Wales next year.
1 mile swim done this afternoon. I'm aiming to overcome my natural state, which is that of a lazy old mare, and get my stroke rate up a bit. I'm not very good at making myself work outside my comfort zone, so all size 10 boots gratefully received
Greetings from Austria We are right next to a lake, and I have been swimming sans wetsuit today - lets just say the water is Alpine fresh . Shortish run this evening too, but its v hard work in the thinner air, and glad I got it out of the way earlier as we've just had a cracking thunderstorm.
been sat here drinking some lovely local wine, watching the lightning and listening to the Ashes victory on TMS - it's turning into a great holiday
Busy on here yesterday, sounds like theres some good plans going on.
RD, welcome to the group. Sign up for the IM, your already swimming 1 mile & running a 3.39 marathon, you'll smash it. Don Fink's Be Iron Fit is a good book to get. Although i assume your hubby may already have that.

New blog might be Ironman to Coffeeman.

There will be enough room in my van for my bike so i can go to triathlons, wife and daughter can sell coffee while i race
Work sorted following my redundancy, another worry removed
You've found a gap in the market, there, ISD - burger vans and ice cream vans are the only refreshments I've seen at local events - good luck

Ohhhh Nursey!!!! They are gawjuss!
you are not allowed to go out on your bike, you have to stay in and play with kittens all day
Me and Andy are roughly the same height and build at racing in the past I've been asked if I'm him? My stock answer of he's not this ugly tends to confuss some?
Gawjuss but completely mental Melds! Getting out on the bike will give me some respite from endlessly stopping them climbing the curtains
Being mistaken for me must be awful, poor Cake
Don't be daft lad.
