don't think it really matters does it? if some of the guys want to try and put together a fast team then that might encourage more people to come and do it.
given the very low numbers i don't suppose they normally have many team entries.
Think I'm probably not a team contender either, as no way will I be getting any points as a quick finisher ... I'll probably get the booby prize points
Hey M. way to go ... I wont have done a mara by then, so it'll be a case of out of the frying pan and into the raging furnace - should have done a half by then tho
well DDP - 1 and 1/2 marathons in one go is definitely a good way to start :-)
as for reliving my youth!!! 12 years ago but feels like another lifetime. i was a venture scout. living with my parents and just about to do my a-levels. in fact when it got a bit difficult i can remember going over maths and physics equations in my head to take my mind off the fact that my legs were hurting! and i had new hiking boots - bought especially for the lyke wake walk.
I'm used to the idea of trail races being slower than road or track cos of the navigating and the surface, but it'll probably be quite a bit firmer in July, but nevertheless my best ditance in 6 hours is 41 miles on a track. I'd expect to do more like 7 1/2 hours especially if its hilly.
it is fairly hilly, especially at the start then one last killer (steep but thankfully short) hill at the end.
osmotherley to ravenscar is the uphill way - hence the 6hr course record. when they used to run it the other way the record was something ridiculous like 4 and 1/2!
Gulp. Mind you, trail routes won't be as accurately measured I guess. That's seriously fast. I prefer to take it easy and enjoy the course. Especially if I don't know the route-I have a tendancy to go off course!!

certainly didn't mean to offend. i wouldn't pressure anyone into doing anything.
i'd really like to do this race and i don't mind one way or the other about teams.
are you not doing the moonwalk then
i think teams are great idea for those who like them
I am looking forward to reliving my youth

yeah I know, but thats a walk marathon, not a run one ... hence I wont be quick at 42 miles, but wont give in untill I cross the line either!
it was too long ago
I guess I'd better get some proper walking boots for this .. I have been walking in running shoes, up untill now
but im sure someone will be along shortly
i just want to aim to be inside the 12 hour cut off.
I just want to complete it, doing no running whatsoever, so no way I'll be inside 7 hours ... N.Yorks is lovely tho
another excuse to stay wiv my family for a day or so prior to this ... in N.Yorks
Blimey, thats serious, 41 miles in 6 hours, you'll be home and having a cup of tea by the time I finish, Tim

M., have you any idea what town this is close to .. I come from N.Yorks (living in the South now) and have no idea where this is
(can i beg and plead for some training advie for a new to ultras very slow tiger as well)
Can you post the advice Tim, I've never done a mara or an ultra ... please ?
