Driving up to Chester tonight. 4 mile recovery run tomorrow morning. Will do a loop that includes running up Sandy Lane. Should help me to not have any surprises on Sunday at the 24 mile stage!
Kev Gels are a bit hard to find in Chester...Tri active in Rufus Court off Northgate st, cant remember what brands they have, or Sainsbury's opposite Compo's hotel have SiS gels in the pharmacy, not on the shelves.
Bit of along story, trained well for the marathon then had a few things get in the way so didn't do that much for 6 weeks, however I feel like I could still do it and I feel strong enough. Thing is because I was doing it for charity I panicked and relinquished my place. Does anyone know of a spare one so late in the day? If not I'll make sure I go to support anyway! I'd just like to run and I have done one before on less training
Probably Bev. But you will get a tshirt which you can change into, it will be a warm day, and they have lots of covered areas in the race course where you can sit down, have something too eat/drink (if you have money), and get a massage (again if you have money). Also though, I found the baggage storage very easy to use last time. Its' all really well organised.
Bev, I'd agree with 15W, the baggage storage is second to none. Last year my bag was sat waiting for me on the table and handed over with a 'well done' by the bag girls. I think they were looking at peoples numbers and getting them ready for collection as you approached, although given the speed of my approach after the preceding 26.2 miles they did have a fair bit of time to find my bag and get it ready .
Signing off here soon. Good luck everybody. Hope you're all as nervous as me! Remember - don't go off too fast, try sticking to an even pace, stay focussed etc etc.
Cheers both! I just had a thought.....could never face ice bath, my instinct is always to get into hot one! Sooooo......I thought a SWIM would be good leisure centre is quite close! GOOD LUCK everyone.....I will still be on forum in my travel lodge....will I sleep???
Good luck everyone tomorrow, I'm feeling a bit nervous but excited for the race.
Looking back at the last 3 months I haven't done anywhere near the amount of miles I did for my last marathon but this time the taper has gone perfect. I feel well rested and raring to go.
Hope everything goes to plan for all of you tomorrow but the real achievement is all the hard work that has got you to the start line. All we can do is give our best so be confident and enjoy the day.
12 hours! Good grief. Not 100% confident about this one....need to think positively! Bev - stop worrying about ice baths or swimming etc...just relax! Have that hot bath if you want. Do what ever you fancy...you deserve it (maybe).
Does anyone know how easy it is those with difficulty walking, and pushchairs, to move around the racecourse and tented village? It all looks like a lot of difficult long grass from the outside.
Runny knows - Can't remember exactly how easy/difficult it was but do remember seeing a few pushchairs in the main tent area so maybe it wasn't too bad...
Last 2 miler done and dusted to stretch the legs...It would be fair to say that I am absolutely papping myself.. My first Marathon and aiming for 3.30...Hoping to hang on to one of the pacers. Some bits to get sorted then chill time...
Can't wait.
In case I don't get chance to post again, let me take the opportunity to wish everyone all the luck in the world. I hope you all have an enjoyable and rewarding race.
Good luck Mark. I shan't be stretching my legs today. I'm still expecting that Tim MK (or whatever he's called) to post that he's knocked out a 10 mile PB on his treadmill this morning... just to warm himself up!

15W- Its pointless worrying about anything now!
You've done this plenty of times before and already have some great times in the bank so you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
If it doesn't go to plan it's not the end of world, plenty more races to put it right.
I know Mark. Thanks for that. Good luck to you.

Good luck everyone! Been at work for school open day this morning so terrified face has had to be masked.
Getting worried about raising temps.......hate hot running. can I run it at 4am please?
This time tomorrow I should almost be done (hopefully!)
Good luck everyone
