Leslie - D'oh! Sorry, I should have remembered. LB70 - hi, good to hear how you're getting on. Sorry it wasn't a great day for you in London, but good determination. Badbark - that's some racing schedule! Moof, Lorenzo and SB - Na, 66 was better. 11 miles @ 6:54 m/m d&d: 8:01, 7:30, 6:50, 6:48, 6:41, 6:38, 6:30, 6:26, 6:25, 6:20, 7:47. 21st wedding anniversary today and going away tomorrow for a day or so, so schedule will be rearranged and might not get to post for a couple of days. Have a great Easter everyone.
Just an easy 3miles to the station this morning. It is nearly Easter after all - roll on the chocolate!
Mmmm, GNR - I've never really thought about entering as there are so many other good halfs and was a little put off by tales of over crowding and trampling! But if there is an option to avoid the ballot then it may be worth considering - does that mean you get up to the sharp end somewhere?
LB70 - I've always tried to follow a published plan as I've found it gives me confidence that someone knows what they are doing has written it - perhaps a little naïvely maybe. Good success with P&D (hasn't everyone) and I trained using the "Fast Marathon" plan from Paula R's latest book for VLM2013 and got a good PB. That is a hard but very good plan.
Minni - No marathon for me this weekend! A snickers maybe.... Groan
Congrats Gul on the 21 years! and a good session to celebrate!

I still say Badbark is in danger of a podium finish in the ultras. Get ready to be lonely, at the sharp end of an ultra one can go literally hours without seeing another soul.
Thanks for the vote of confidence but there is little chance I’ll be on the podium at either Ultra. The 50k is really only a training session were I intend to run at 8 m/m pace were possible. It’s along the causeway coast so there are plenty of beaches, hills and even rock sections to negotiate so my overall pace will be much slower. I’ve the Belfast marathon 2 days later so won’t be pushing the pace at all.
At the 100k my goal will be just to finish. I’ll be starting at around 8 m/m pace but expect a significant drop over the second half including walking/toilet breaks etc. If I break 9 hours (8:40) average I’ll be over the moon.
More significantly I already know that Keith Whyte the Irish 100k record holder will be racing and another 51 minute 10 mile runner too. These guys and probably a few more will be about 2 hours ahead by the end!
I’m really only dipping into Ultras with these races to see how I enjoy them. If I do decide to race over the distances again then I certainly intend to race much harder and faster.

Hi Minni/PMJ/CC2 - don't really know what dragged me to look at this thread today - not sure I've ever been here before however above is a real scoop.
I'm not actually a member of a club at the moment but do have a sub 40 10k this year but it will show as me being unattached.
If I paid to join a club now and then applied with my sub 40 10k from before I was a member of a club do you know if that would work?
And do any of you know when the deadline for applications under this rule are as I'm just (hopefully) getting to end of an injury spell but would like a month of running under my belt before parting with all the dosh.
I had to use my 'token' and part with the cash by 30th June. Not sure about the club thing - email Tom (my new BFFL ) and ask. Tom.Broadbent@nova-international.com
This is amazing - An Irish guy is currently running around the world (50,000k) and due to finish at the Dublin Marathon this year after 4 years. He's in Iran at the minute.
Well done to all the marathon runners. Especially you. You were the best. I've enjoyed reading all the reports of your derring-do and heroic adventure. I'm very envious.
Meanwhile, I'm feeling all blue boo-hoo. Two days after the Coastal numbers were released, I pounced, sloth-like, on the application form. Sadly, it seems I was two days late. So, Poacher, Minni, OO et al, if you hear of a number looking for a deserving home, then grab it and give it to me instead. Thank you.
SFF - many club members end up in results without a club showing, be it a mistake when entering, entering before they joined a club etc. If you've done the time then I don't see why you shoudn't be able to enter. I'd look at accomodation straight away though - getting a hotel room nearby is almost impossible around race time.
Ant - nice piccies. Am already looking forward to next year!!
Spent 2.5 hours in the car driving back from Northampton this afternoon. Not a great decision given the anticipated holiday traffic but at least it gave me time to get up to date with Marathon Talk podcasts.
Suffice to say there's a member of this thread who either hasn't listened to it yet or is being rather modest about her position on this week's podium!!!
11 miles for me today. Longest run in a couple of weeks and used the opportunity to test out the new Hokas around the streets of Copenhagen. Said hello to the little mermaid and some cows. I'm very impressed with the shoes so far (despite them taking a layer of skin off the top of 2 of my toes). Super comfy and surprisingly light and stable.
Ant has an amazingly long left arm - one hopes he hadn't been toying with the giant pus-filled foot blister before parking the hand on Lorenzo's shoulder.
5m at the track tonight. Jealous of the crew who are flying to Boston tomorrow.

found it and tried to send an email and the email address is not recognised!!! Grrrr
Edit - got it now.
Thank you. I was going to enter either York or Edinburgh on the 6th but would much rather do GNR.

Go Gul. That is a pacey Royal flush, with a 1 mile cool down. You are running some great sessions.

Maidenhead Easter 10 tomorrow, but still not fully shaken off this cold so it's going to be a bit plodtastic I think. Anybody else going to be there?
