I would guess (hope) IM would make contingency arrangements for those delayed due to the French strike, guessing a large portion of competitors are flying in.
Wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility to register and rack on Sat
Turin is about 4.5 hours away, Barcelona about 6 hours away... Problem is not finding out until the last minute (approx 1pm for a 7am flight the following day) means the first flight will be extremely expensive.
Think were hoping on flights as were going on the Wednesday, so can afford to wait a bit if we have to, and if that fails then driving from Calais on the Tuesday night/weds morning
Easyjet site says they have been advised to cancel 50% of flights and you can either have a refund or another flight but they are advising this msy be after the strike and that we eill be informed by email so a 1 in 2 chance i am gonna make it, best Easyjet roll the dice i am gonna be seriously out of pocket if its binned as i wont get a bristol hotel booking or race fee refund and i certainly cant afford to start forking out for rail travel etc after what i have already forked out, WTF didn't i stick with my original plan of Challenge Almere
but incase of problems.....after all this training and with the fact that pirates have such a big presence at Outlaw.I wonder if they would issue some extra places so that those who have trained can have a race at least.......
not quite the same thing I appreciate.....
But as I said .I'm confident that you will all get there in tiem
Carl - flights from London airports only have 2-4 seats unbooked currently. When demand is lower (like midweek) there are fewer flights. It's not economical to fly a half empty plane, so they avoid it wherever possible.
In all honesty, if your flight is cancelled, you need a plan B.
But, I think we have a decent chance of getting there on the flights we've got.
Roads were deserted on my drive down to Marseille airport. Flight from Gatwick arrived on time. Lots of other arrivals landing without too many problems too!
Just back from a weekend away and catching up. F*ck.
I just hope Easyjet gives us the info on what's being cancelled or not sooner rather than later. I'm supposedly flying Friday so cutting it fine if they leave it till then to tell us

Pretty much my plan all along flying in Friday and then not having to pack and go home the day after the awards do
If any are interested, driving times from Calais to Nice are between 10-11 hours
road tolls 104 EUR
What about flying to somewhere in Italy - Genoa or Turin - and the getting the train to Nice?
According to the French news (TF1)... Rail traffic is almost back to normal...
Information backed up on SNCF website.

Well I'm completely f***ed, can not find my passport anywhere and the passport office say it will be 7 days at the earliest to get a new one
as it is just to Europe ask about an emegency travel document.... Can be arranged in a day normally.
SNCF says bikes in bike bags do not need booking on TGV service

Avalaf ... Daft question but when dI'd you last have it? Can you retrace steps?
I think you will all be lucky with flights.......

50/50 chance ... Who'd gamble on that
Avalaf just been reading about the emergency travel doc i don't think it will work in this case but may be worth an enquiry
Systematic search of everyroom drawer cubbyhole etc in the house isvthe next step
Gonna see what pans out and look at a train on thu or car from Calais as fallback options
That's true as well Barlos, but then again the early mid week flight could be a commuter flight ...
Trouble is there is only 1 flight to nice per day from bristol so if its binned thats it for the day i take it
I hate France, whose idea was this anyway ??!!

More beer? Don't mind if I do!
But then again the strike doesn't start until Tuesday!!
Yes, Siggy. The strike starts on Tuesday.
Cross post. I type slowly on my phone!
What a nightmare. I hope you all get there.
We're leaving tomorrow night and will keep our fingers crossed for you all!

They'll prob take the same line as BA and decide the day before, they won't make the decision before then
gingers crossed kids
Just in case whats the refund policy on the ibis?
Leave straight after work Weds, drive to Dover. Hit first ferry and then head south.....
Having looked at cost of ferry, tolls and fuel it's not masses more than the flight...
And TLS had offered to drive my car, so I can sleep...
Dave
You may want to check parking etc in Nice, you may be able to get something through the hotel, but it is quite tight in the city centre.
Ironically, the most likely place for easy parking would be the long stay at the airport I'd guess, then the shuttle bus back to the centre
