I'm hoping theres a tail wind on the road through belmont on race day! The last two rides on the loop I've had a head wind on the 8 mile stretch after the decent of SHL, which has made a difference of 1.3 mph on my average speed.
At the end of the road you take a left so the wind would be on your right side. The road out of Belmont to the M65 is your best chance of getting aero and on tri bars if you have them. It's a long undulating fast stretch if the wind is behind.

Like woody says when you turn left at the black dog it's a nice run to the m65
its up and down but you can get some speed up and the up's are not too bad
Hi Crooky we are talking about the same stretch of road but I was referring to the left turn at the M65 in answer to Mark who seemed to suggest you doubled back.
I haven't rode the course so maybe I'm getting confused. In an ideal world world I would have done a recce but it looks like it's too late now!
Is everyone feeling ready? I'm feeling absolute knackered this week, I could fall asleep at any point during the day. I guess this must be a sign that my body is recovering during the taper.
Can't believe it 9 months of training and i go and tweak my calf really bad going up some stairs, think i may be hopping around the marathon now really disappointed i won't be able to go for a good time now.

Don't worry mate you can join me walking the marathon if I make it that far
So into Race Week very nervous and excited and will be great to meet some of you forum folks in person. I cannot believe how quick this event has come around it is only 2 weeks earlier than last year but seems like it has just sneaked up.
Taper madness has started and I've had some strange dream last night was about forgetting to take the trainer tyre off as I was using it on the Turbo at weekend. I've also dreamt that I went to the school for T2 and was adamant about leaving my bike in the Tennis court area. Anyone else having any strange pre-race dreams?
Also I've felt rotten all week hoping that is a good sign and I will come out off it this week ready for a good long training day.
Good luck everyone! I'm race number 685 if anyone sees me about say Hello!
It is, there is a small layby just towards the end of Jolly Tar Lane, makes a perfect sport for supporting as its generally a quiet area of the course so the competitors IE you lot, need a bit of a kick at this point.
Don't want to nag......but where is the list........
If I am going to have an evening armchair supporting I need a list of forumnames and numbers
no come on....it can be in number order or alphabetical or any old order. You are all in full taper so have nothing better to do than satisfy my small demands

You and me both but if it isn't everyone will be down more or less the same.

Sorry woody I was on about the road up to the m65 which is a good road but the left turn at the motorway is also a good fast one
But mark don't be turning and coming back up any of these roads

Can I join you? I fell off scaffold today only 5 foot high but banged and twisted my left knee in the process.
3 mile run today knee felt ok going to try the bike tomorrow and if no problems then i will be on the start line next sunday
13 mile bike ride this morning, I felt the knee going up the hills but that might ease with some more rides (hopefully)
so roll on Sunday

We will be at 93k and 168k on the bike course shouting at you all, enjoy the tapir people
Thanks SA - I'll be looking for you and the family. I hate the taper, just want the race to get here now.
Good luck to all pirates on Sunday - have fun.
Is that near the "Thyme and Plaice" restaurant?

Excellent, see you there my good man.
Tell Jordy to bring his cowbell!
Don't think you will have to look for us, you will hear us, hoping to have LittleClown in attendance as well
Hoping to have 2 cowbells, one horn and a couple of pirate flags, oh and a case of beer now that LittleClown has agreed to drive
Ah - so you'll be significantly more rowdy (and less coherent) on the second lap then!
.......only days to go......when I signed up for this there seemed so much time......
