they did a second release last year because they changed the course to accomodate more people.....not ding that this year but rumour has it there were 2500 places....either way i dont think there will be a second release this time
Just booked the travelodge in Bolton - seems a bargain @ £90 for 3 nights. Hope the travel on race morning and the day before is not too much of a faff!
chorley hotels are ok..its easy to get to the stadium and get the bus to the race start premier inn chorley south is perfect...one road to the stadium and the race almost passes it by
Perfect... only problem is getting bike back from T2... Do they transport your swim stuff from T1 to T2 I presume?
Any one know if you are able to pick your bike up on the Monday? Last year's info suggests T2 is only open until midnight to collect the bike... which is no good for those people finishing after ~15 hours

Not necessarily, but I want to stay at the finish line and watch everybody come in until the end...
The thought of having to go and shower, get in the car and drive to collect my wet swim kit and bike, load them in the car and then drive back doesnt really appeal compared to shouting at others
Marky Mark - all will be well. Build up so you are comfortable with the distance, get out in a lake to practice some open water and wet suit swims. Bobs your uncle!
Started Fink plan a few weeks early. Just plan to add a bit more base. Have discovered non alcoholic wine which is helping me through the holidays! Enjoying the training just not the snow and ice. Managing plenty mountain biking and xcountry running.
unfortunately not local. Live near Duns in the Scottish Borders. I did have a week holiday in Bolton in September with a friend and we did the bike and run routes. Would be up for another trip down. The bike route was ok just a lot of stop start not much flow to it and plenty bumpy. no need for the Garmin some kinds person has spray painted yellow arrows the whole way round!
(Local Tip) =0) Id get cycling those hills guys and gals as the bike course is brutal. I live locally and have signed up as my First Ironman event. I've started doing regular hill training on parts of the route and as a cycling route (1 lap) alone it would be a real leg burner. As an Ironman route (2 Laps) legs of granite needed. It deserves its place as the hardest bike route for any Ironman.

Will you all wait for me at the end?
The FB page said they expect to sell out by the end of the month... Not sure if they do a second release or not?

Has anyone else joined?
First post on here, to say that I signed up. It will be my first Ironman, and I'm more than a little worried about the swim...

This is 1 week ahead of my main event (the transcontinental race) and I don't think its a good taper plan!)
