It was the BBC GoodFood recipe I used, no idea how authentic it is, but I liked it! Think I had all the ingredients except “all spice berries” and after a brief google used cloves cinnamon and nutmeg instead https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/bobotie/amp
I heard they are doing a special for next year now. It will start & finish at what is normally the half way point,, with half of the runners heading down to Durban then back up, and the other half heading up to Pberg then back down. Social distancing with a difference (until the finish that is!)
Debra: yes whats the point in having the green if you dont get to use it.
I love Bobotie, can highly recommend it.
Mark: I dont see that flying at all because the logistics of getting to half way are a complete nightmare as the roads are narrow. Was that a wind up and I am being slow?
Yes, only fun Peter... I believe it will remain to be a down as was going to be double down anyway over two years so would be weird to scrap both years and revert back to what 2022 would have been (an up year)
Sounds like a nasal spray, you sure you were inoculated for Covid or given a flu jab I thought you were going to say Cambridge or Pfizer, am I not keeping up with the news?
Pleased to report I finally received my virtual comrades t-shirt and medal today.. looks like it was stuck in the Dutch postal system / customs since December 15th!
That's good to know, someone on FB was complaining yesterday they still hadn't had theirs. Plus daughter of lowrez is still awaiting hers but that was an administrative mix up, it wasn't sent in the original shove.
lowrez: a friend of mine has hers delayed as well. She's sure she put the address details in way-back, but somehow her medal and shirt were not incuded in the stuff sent in bulk, and she now has to wait for it - sent in December, apparently, from South Africa.
This will become The Tale of Legends irrespective of how many people receive their medal, we will continue to discover someone still waiting for theirs.
Yup. Here's hoping. And meanwhile I really hope I get to complete the Centurion Grand Slam this year. I've been sensible and bowed out of running NDW50 two weeks after TP100 - I'm fairly sure I could have done it, but I would be unlikely to run my best, and would then be frustrated at having run poorly on a course I love. Instead I'm going to be marking part of the course, so I'll still be involved.
Got mine too. Here's hoping. And thanks for the bobotie suggestion McHilly. Tried it last night and my boys approved. Even found a dusty jar of allspice berries in the spice rack that I don't remember buying. The use by date said [15 Apr 201] so not sure how old they were!
Debra, wonder whether SDW50 will go ahead in April? Organised races are allowed by then, but hotels aren't allowed to open until May 17th so would have to drive down the morning of the race and back home afterwards. Do able from London, but hard on those coming from further afield.

Fingers crossed for 2022!
