I di both last year but knew in advance that the second was going to be about 4 1/2 hours as was running London with the trainee, it made it a bit easier knowing that both were not going to be eyeballs out runs....., then I fell over in Paris but that is another story
Trin run Paris with me and o.b. ( he's pacing me to 4.15) then race FLM. Snaps i might do a big mac does that count. Snoop.. deal payment at meet after race (there is one right!!) Plum hi mate are you running Luton ? tell us your Paris story.
You guys are probably all ultra-thin 'whippets' so may not know the answer. But I'll try anyway.
I've heard that the authorities re-open the roads after 4:30, presumably timed from the start gun.
So if I run 4:30 per my chip and 4:50 per the gun, will I have to negotiate traffic for the last couple of miles?
I suppose that the only alternative is to run faster. However, I figure that 2:00 for a half-marathon will translate approx to 4:30 for a full-marathon.
Looks like I might be a 'larry no mates' in Paris. My wife's a teacher and school starts first thing Monday 11th April!
Tim I did chip time 4.39 last year and there were plenty of people supporting the last mile, plenty of runners behind me, and plenty of burguers and spicy saussages baguettes and drinks after the finish line.
Did Madrid 3 weeks later, and again did 4.38 (chip time).
did 4 marathons in 4 weeks April 2003 (Paris, Rotterdam, Lochaber and Dublin) all around 3:30 the Paris was fastest at 3:21 ........... Paris was fantastic. Better than FLM this year. What a start at the Arc de Triumphe - Jon van Gelis Chariots of Fire. Awesome. Pasta was duff but the expo was good.
Wine at 40kms. Good one! I like your sense of humour.
But seriously, turning myself into a full-marathon runner is going to be quite a challenge. The good thing is that I've 6+ months to do it, not just a few weeks.
Early doors, the main thing that I've noticed is not a cv or stamina problem. Rather, that my legs aren't up to it.
O.B. you did mention anything about training when you got me into this? Tim you will be fine , stick with this thread and you will be over that finish line before you know it.
Mrs Snaps says OK so I shall be entering tout de suite. I look forward to running with you again Tiger! And the post race celebrations! I expect they'll be a bit more laborate than the JSJ but will you get the Multi treatment again I wonder?

I don't know if I'll be able to fund the Paris trip tho
(((Snoops and Tiger))).
Lovely to see you again.
How about a warm welcome to all the Copenhageners?
(((Rich))), where are you?
And what are you coming back from?
Looking forward to Paris! It's long enough away in the future to do some unrealistic planning of speedy times :-)
Can I ask one serious question about Paris?

Rich is now coming to Windsor next week (according to his post on that thread) - why don't you come along again? The marquee is there like last year.
and you wont be Billy No Mates in Paris. 40 or so of us met up there this year, and Rach will again be hosting the pre and post marathon parties.

You're all managing to 'sell' Paris really well.
Only tiny job now is to turn myself from a half-marathon runner into a full-marathon possibility. Gulp. Daunting to say the least.

Such subtle humour! Side-splitting stuff.
But seriously, I was expecting my longer runs to totally physically exhaust me. But amazingly, they haven't thus far.
Rather, its just the leg strength that I seem to lack.
As to the mental side, I'll finish every race - even if I have to crawl to the line.

Where, in Paris ??? >hopeful<
Tiger, how was it? Pls. tell us more.
Multi has a CPH fan club, you know...
