Just read yesterdays post about twitchy legs, apparently upon falling asleep on Sunday ,sat on the sofa ,I was informed that my legs "were doing litte steps up and down" anyone else been told of this one ? presume its just muscles twitching but sounds a tad strange. Any north england runners doing the guy fawkes at Ripley? Quite hilly apparently sounds like fun!
No twitchy legs for me today, I've sworn myself a day off from running. Did go to the swimming pool and have a far more enjoyable swim than Monday...20 lengths, hurrah! Almost managed to ditch the float and the flippers, wrong body shape to swim apparently (too skinny!)
Hippo, 25 marathons in three years, that's good going. I've only managed 10 since 2001, or should that be 11, yesssss, I've just realised that Cardiff was number 11, not 10 as previously I thought (whoops!) How can you lose count of such things?
Agree about the medal, given everything else seems to be in both Welsh and English, I'm surprised the medal isn't. Very nice nevertheless. Back to lectures in a bit, priorities and lunch first though
Ello all . Right , thats it entered Luton . Best start training . Tea & Toast Man - thanks for the link . Very helpful indeed .
Hazzervye - from what I can tell of the course it is hillier than Cardiff which was of course well flat . I cant see any real major ones from the course description , but it is a little wavvy . Be great to have you on board if you fancy it . What time did you get in Cardiff ? I was aiming 3.30 and got 3.38 . Legs went a bit in last 6 miles .Definetly aim for 3.30 or less in Luton .
Gently - you go girl . I did my first ever half in the GNR in September 2004 and did about 2 hrs 40 mins partly due to the crowds . I did my next in December 2004 and got down to 1.48 , 1.42 in May 2005 and 1.40 September . If I can do it , I'm sure you can and I shall cheer you on all the way !! My advice is join a club , follow a schedule and enter races . I've now done 15 since the first GNR and have the t-shirt collection to prove it !!
Blisters, you look fast in those photos. I look like I'm in pain and that I can hardly bend my knees (Bib No. 103)which is, strangely, exactly how it was for 15 miles.
Gently - your pics are great, you look like you're having a lot more fun than when I saw you. did you see me (1101) and Nic, we look like we've just been busted
survive the course, or address the issues? both is probably the right answer. am certainly keen to, and the challenges that the course provides should ensure that i do.
are you ready for sunday, two maras in two weeks, tough going
i know too...hipps, i know. why should this time be any different? i suppose because of the course, it will be different, i'll have even more motivation and more support.
you take care on sunday, don't want you doing anything silly or stupid now - maybe i'll take some of my own advice :-)
Thanks Hipps, I met a few people in the pub with Gently on saturday so I thought I'd drop by to check how everyone got on. There's a lot of reports to read.
