So I hear. I have been in touch with a Dutch colleague in Amsterdam - turns out that his birthplace is Rotterdam. He says that the train system is very punctual! Its only an hour from schipol too. Will book this weekend. Need to dig out my trainers too.!
I have booked the NH hotel, downtown, 75 Euro. jd - you overestimate my knowledge, I am not even from there (I am from Belgium). But I would expect the same wheather as London.
Now changed booking to Hotel Milano, 62 Euro, also downtown. And Flying KLM from KHR. And registered ... by the way the Dutch runners pay much less ...
paul a - Paniced a bit London full, Paris full and Rotters has only 10000. Spoke to a club mate today who did this year and highly recommended the race, his PB course. Spoke to another club mater yesterday and I was told the course is even faster than Berlin. Only have to make it to the start line injury free!
Still waiting forlornly for an FLM 'yes/no' but as cheque has yet to be cashed it looks like I will be Rotterdam bound - and to be honest I wish I hadn't entered for FLM now. It won't be as good as NY that is for sure. Musn't leave it too late to get my entry in and miss the boat like I did with Paris.
Can you not defer your place to 2007, just in case you get into FLM 2006?
I ran FLM before, took me ages to get to the start and compared with the other marathons I did, experience wise it was at the bottom. Difficult, I race and train in London all the time, great to run in other countries.
Don't know my sub time yet. Did Humber Half Marathon in 1:58 on hottest day of the year, will be trying to fit a few half marathons at a reasonable temperature in to gauge what time I'm looking for. I gues sub 4:00 would be a good starting point.
Rotters is a classic, the city may not have to offer much in terms of sightseeing, but most go there to run a fast marathon. Can't have everything, Amsterdam is very close too.
Agreed URR, our plan is to stay in A'dam and commute for the race. I was surprised to see Rotters in the RW top 10 marathons - that seals it for me, plan to work my through them all.
still keen, still havn't done anything - not well motivated at the moment - recovering from a foot infection, very tender, difficult to walk never mind run. So I have to check my term dates (teacher) and see where April 9 falls Anyone know how i can find out how many places are left?
Hi all, fancy seeing so many old friends on this thread.
Looking at the maths NY was about 6% slower than London (based on Paula Radcliffes times - so maybe not truly representative. You can work out what that means as a % of your own time - but about 9-10 mins for me I think. That doesn't mean I can automatically run sub 3:15 in Rotterdam but must have a good chance. Likewise for everyone else.
Wow Paul 6% is 20 mins for me add on the 9 mins to get over the line and the 20 mins in the queue for loos then I could be looking at 5 hours without trying any harder

I learned so much from NY, I hope I am in for another chance to run a 3.45 or faster time...
Oh and VLM does usually do cheap flights to Antwerp from London City Airport, only an hour by train from Rotterdam, for those flying.
KLM UK flies from London city or Gatwick to Rotterdam, usually not that expensive either.
I may actually be travelling from Wales, in which case I wont drive but fly from Cardiff to Amsterdam...
Welsh Poppy, where are you based? I assume you are in wonderful Wales somewhere? I am 6 miles North of Abergavenny, SE.
Just done NY marathon (first), took me a lot longer than I wished, so anything better will be a Bonus.
Have entered, but not booked flights/hotel etc as waiting for that family decision.

There are a few of us here that did NY and we were all slower than we thought
