What I can never understand is that when I go through the cupboards throwing out all the stuff we thought we'd try, (polenta, quinoa, etc.etc.) I find things with expiry dates which pre-date the last time I did the exercise, and yet they still weren't thrown out. how does that happen?
Is there a past-its-sell-by-date fairy which comes and puts things back in the cupboard?
There must be, Kath! Last time I carried out the chucking out exercise I found things that predated when we moved to this house (8 years ago). That fairy has a lot to answer for. My Grandmother kept tins of food in her cupboard that predated the introduction of best before dates. So they never got chucked out!
Had a nice run with CR this afternoon. We even managed a few strides:-)
Kath... I hope you're not saying that you threw out quinoa!! It's really nutritious and made in only 20 minutes...
LL...good to see you back...you gave us all quite a turn you know
Lurker...if you're not running Copenhagen 2007 then you might as well not run Copenhagen 2006
OB...i've never seen marmite rocks...where would you get them from then?
CR...Kendall mint cake is basically a slab of sugar stuck together with mint...not a cakey cake. Frequently used by mountain climbers and ultra runners.
After a lovely restful weekend I am now back on nights, woke up at 2.45 this afternoon and it took me a good 10 minutes to work out what day and time it was and why I'd been asleep...no change there then.
We've got our Christmas meal at work this week... 1.30am on Thursday morning
I haven't chucked it out yet, Trin, but I bet it's past its sell-by.
My Aunty had a bottle of gravy browning which never ran out, she used it for years and years, but that was before best-before dates too.
You might have to break your No Eating In The Middle Of The Night rule, but it's only once a year. And this isn't any Christmas meal, it's a specially prepared, lovingly served at 1.30am on a Thursday M&S Christmas meal.
LL...yes I am, partly because i'm not sure how the finances are going to work out with my new situation and also now i've got my discount card i don't really want to give it back
I've finally got my appetite back. I suppose at this time of year putting weight back on should not be too much of a challenge. Save me some minibites please Trin.
Oh great, Kath. I have entered. LordL and the children are doing the 3K fun run. LordL wants to improve his position - he came last in the fun run this year!!
evening all . . good to see you back LL . . and I lurve the new picture . .
have you thought of starting a pub chain? Bar Humbug!!
hmmm . . Hyde Park 10k sounds fun . . Trin and I were considering doing the local New Year's Day 10k at Weston-super-Mud . . . will have to find out more and have a think about it . .
just been updating the travel bit on the CPH info pages . . bloomin airlines changing their names and/or web addresses!! can't rely on anything staying the same for long these days can you!!
Snaps . . your ague may have been chocolate deficiency but I suffered badly from treacle pudding deficit at DD earlier this year . . had you considered increasing your treacle sponge and custard intake?
The tension is building already for the next BN. I can feel it through the ether, I bet Trin isn't ever more than a nanosecond away from her keyboard until the momentous event has passed.
I do have some birds custard powder. Where is Hoover I wonder? Moping because she missed the last BN? Ran with the club tonight. Gave up after 4 miles and ran home on my opwn. We weren't going that fast and my HR was quite reasonable but my legs felt like lead. More treacle pudding required, definitely.
Godmorgen København, Godmorgen Rich, Take care out there on the roads.
Thanx for the info everyone, sounds like I'd better not waste my money on Kendall's or it will end up in the cupboard with other products after best before date: Marmite (too salty and yeasty, OB), Karlsson's nippon suppa (Swedish rosehip powder soup - too sugary, Branston pickle, (sorry too sweet and soury, LL.) But what I LOVE is Duchy Original's lemon curd on toast. The perfect balance. You've got to try that guys! AND Butterscotch G & B vanished within seconds, Paul a ) Yum, Yum.
