FR - what makes it nasty is that most tracks are very rough and stoney. If you have ever off-roaded in a 4x4, this is the type of ground where you rip your tyres to shreds on sharp pointy flintstones.
10,000 ft ain't all that much over 100. I was thinking about some minor course changes that would get me another 250ft but decided against it for logistal reasons.
It's hard enough now I thought and I don't want to end up with a large number of people dropping out.
come on then folks, whos running,,, who's not trained, lol, be nice to hear from a few people who are going just to say hi before we can't speak through lack of engery..
Nice one Lucy, this is shaping up to be a good one. 12 doing the 50 and 11 doing the 100 so far. There should be a great party atmosphere on the day/s.
Henk how will you be marking the course, will you be able to use spray on the ground at strategic points to help in the dark?
Hope everyone's training is going well, it will be time to taper soon, one more long run for me at the end of next week to check out kit and nutrition and then a nice easy wind down till the race.
Taper!??! WTF?!!! I only started training 10 days ago!
I have to admit, I'm seriously considering Buckers-ing this. I need to get the train back to get to a friends, so I figure I have to be finished after 9 hours at the most. Me thinks this is a tad optimistic.
if you don't show I will find you and kill you, then I will kill all your pets and tear your teddy bears to bits, finally i will find where you buried that pet dog that you loved so much and dig up its bones and p*ss on them.....
or if I am feeling really annoyed i will send carl and candy round to tell you all about how they were seperated at birth and only managed to get back into contact after a freak meating on an internat chatroom and of the emotional scarring it has given them. and how they are still looking for the third triplet who was last seen doing panto as geri halliwells fanny wig.
no, it's left, I think? the whole thing is a loop and I am having nightmares about getting lost. I might take a can of spray paint to mark the course while it is still daylight I got lost in the dark on my training loop the other night, I have done it so many times in the daylight but in the dark it was like a new course.... help!
LOL Smithy. I'll try, but no guarantees. I need to go to my bosses wedding in Bath the night before, and I need to be at my friends in Dartford by midnight Saturday, so it'll be an absolute mission for me to get there, and get away from there before I'm stuck there!
I'm going to really try to train like mental between now and then though... just as soon as this ruddy cold clears up.
Right, I've officially Buckersed out. My cold has got a lot worse over night, and I'm not doing the Manchester half this weekend now. Sorry Smithy, you're on your own.
It has gone well thanks, another long one a couple of weekends ago and now I am going to have a nice taper. More confident now of finishing the race, just hope my feet hold up. Worried about getting lost in the dark though, might take a spray can to mark the path. I will e-mail Henk and see if it's OK.
What about yourself, how did you get on this weekend, did you manage all three races?
Did you do that new half IM or was it changed because of weather problems. That was a bad weekend for weather.
The new HIM is one hell of a course, just a shame the weather was so bad. Swim was shortened to 1k instead of 2k the bike was realy dodgyin the wind, nigh on 30mph. Run was cancelled.
Doing the Clarendon way marathon this weekend as a warm up for next week.
Might have to wear my NM t'shirt for the first few laps. Did you get a DVD of last years race? You are on it, on the run, moaning about the aid stations and how your belly was 'growling' ¦oD

If I do a no-show, don't be too surprised.

It's ghoing to be a busy start looking at the list of entrants. I wonder how many of us will finish, especially the 100??
Just watch out for the rubber chicken!!
