its the 15th day of October which means its still breast Cancer awareness month
coincidentally my neighbor has just come out of hospital after having a breast lump removed and is going to have radiotherapy but it may not be till Christmas before it can start
Stride for Life still taking place every sunday in October - so we can still do our bit - click on the CRUK banner at the top of the month
I'm doing Knutsford on Sunday so hi to anyone who is doing one too
a nice recovery 10 k stroll for all you not racing this weekend!
I like squirrels. Don't mind rats either, as long as they don't try to come into the house. Hate foxes that aren't also Forumites. Love bunny-rabbits. Especially casseroled slowly. Boing-de-boing-de-boing.
It´s fantastic out here. I used to live in the midlands and all I´d see every day were people and houses and dirt and cars. Now if I look up from my PC I can see a fjord, snow-capped mountains and fishing boats. Went running this morning and even though it´s a bit cloudy I could see over a dozen different mountains. When the sun comes out everything is blue and gold and green and white and it´s stunning.
We have so many volcanoes - I´m fascinated by them - and I´ve now swum in an active one! That was sooo exciting. And we also have hot springs and bubbling mud. Life can be a bit tough here sometimes because of the climate and because we´re so remote, but everything else makes up for it.
And you can fly here for £200 return from the UK! Even though it is an expensive country, basic guesthouses, camping and pubic transport are quite cheap ... so you could get here for a lot less than £2,000!
Related to this thread though slighty off topic - Is anyone / has anyone entered any Stride(s) for Life? I know its not running, but close enough.
Me and t'family are entering this Sunday at Alton Water near Ipswich. We've had over £200 pledged through friends and work colleagues which we're really pleased with.
I'm striding at Tatton Park, Knutsford on Sunday - its my first 10 k - ok its a walk but it will be something to aim for when I start to lift my feet off the ground more frequently.
Still a couple of weekends to enter folks - you can enter on the day - and take the whole family, dog etc - check back throught this thread for venues or go straight to Cancer Research banner at the top of the page!
Went walking, running and swimming in the snow today. It´s quite a novelty at the moment ... even though we've had a ttwo day blizzard. But I think the novelty will start to wear off next week!I'mmore a hot weather person really!
Its been at least 24 hours since a boing, so there's todays!
Completed yesterday's Stride For Life at Alton Water near Ipswich yesterday. Quite fun although I question the "baby buggy friendly" statement! Just thankful we finished about 30 seconds before it rained!
Anyway, unnecessary grumbling aside, my family will have raised over £200 if everyone pays up which is the important point here.
Hope those of you running future SFLs find it enjoyable too.

Not very fascinating fact ... Icelanders can´t pronounce the word ´Squirrel´.
Then again, they don´t have them here.
Get checking girls (and boys)
What do Icelanders call squirrels then?
wow, not even 9.00 a.m. local time and I've already learnt something.
But seriously .... GET CHECKING girls and boys.
Went for an early walk on the golf course and my tree rat fiends were too busy burying their nuts to harass me!
the cold weather make it easier to check for lump and bumps as everything is shrivelling
whats the time difference in Iceland? Is it a lovely country? Its somewhere I have always wanted to go - looks dramatic and I love volcanos!
Discovered a Charity Trek in June 2003 called Fire and Ice which Im considering but £2000+ sponsorship sounds like a lot to raise
badoing!
