You have been invited into the palazzo and there are thousands of books in there
The Palazzo has a strange likeness to the biomes at Eden, a honeycomb place full of light water & life - an outside place inside and an inside place outside
I need to retire to one of my other lives ... numbers, but they are not my friends anymore, they are drudgery personified
except when I'm working out people's wages, the HR is not just my running club, or Heart Rate (RHR happens to be my age at the moment)
HR is also Human Resources (strictly unofficial role, only paid to be a number cruncher) which gave me a wonderful moment this morning - someone was being paid too little, it's a bit of a long story, but it has, against tremendous odds, had a positive outcome !!!
Thanks Vrap (thread is sensibly resting before big midnight excitement and much coffee later) and Go Go Smitch!
I will let you know if I venture down to our only 24-hr store TESCO at Midnight - I rang them earlier and they said I could use my £1.50 Safeway voucher!! what are they like, But they're still not letting on what they are going to charge ...
jogged out at 23:30 to call on mr pask (lives near Tesco) and we went to see if anything was happening - young paskJ said he was too tired to come along and was already asleep
curiosity really
there was a photographer hanging about from the local paper and about 25 - 30 people just there for the book - didn't take enough safeway vouchers, but passed on all I had
photos taken of one or two youngsters by the cardboard stand, very low key
Tesco price £9.97 less safeway voucher = £8.47
several were confused by the two different covers - "no, the adult version hasn't got swear words, it's just the cover ..."
well it's going to be a LONG ONE ... AND I'm a slow reader ... nothing exciting so far
postie delivered it at 7.00 this morning, big book, eldest daughter 13 will read it first as shs fastest, mutually agreed with other sibs. still awaiting reading as ther is a bit of homework to be done first. i'll stick with Maeve Binchy
Ohmigod - bit of a panic this morning - posty had been earlier than ever before, but just two bills through the letterbox. But on opening the front door - he'd left the package there !
Nicko - I could kiss you ! (almost)
Plan for today - tidy house. Do turbo session whilst 4yo amuses himslef.
Pub at lunchtime - 4yo can play at the playground - I can get some quality reading in in the sunshine !
Borders this afternoon - just to see what its like there ! Sspect it might be chaos.

I've been saying I only seek out "children's" and books written for "young" people but I did enjoy "Circle of Friends"
hope the posties get a bit extra - long day for them!

Happy Potter!
PO have put a card thru my door saying package was too big for my letterbox.
I can come and collect it from their Delivery office on MONDAY!!!!!!!
They are not answering the phone number on the card!!!
B****y London postman!!!!
Sorry rant and swearing over. Have to stop otherwise will break my keyboard.
Sam P - that's awful - I feared delivery might go wrong - so never ordered on-line in the end
Is it possible to go buy elsewhere today & return tother one for refund??
They didn't have a problem delivering another package from Amazon earlier this week, which was too big for my letterbox.
Postie/caretaker left it outside my door.
Pashka see your point, but suppose was being tight in wanting the discount.
Oh well postie isn't going to get that bonus for delivering the book that I had intended.
Snatched the postman's hand off about an hour ago! It's sitting right here on the desk next to me - want to read but don't, have waited so long!
Postman said he delivered 6 down our road!
