the Beast is first after about 20km of flat; followed by a fast descent to Egg; then another climb up to Forch by the side of some tram tracks - not steep, just long; a long downhill back to the lakeside; back on the flat through the start/finish area to Heartbreak Hill; back down to the lakeside and back to the start/finish for the first lap.
I've been so busy at work I haven't had time for nerves! Can't believe I'll be flying over to Zurich in two weeks time, the last few weeks have passed so quickly. I've joined a local masters swimming group, which has been great fun. Morning sessions start at 5:45, perfect for me. Also swim in a heated outdoor pool, makes such a nice change to swim outside.
listening to ironman talk, the 70.3 was a real cold swim .......looking good for a wetsuit swim Emmy, the weather page is up and running now on the website, getting warm.
Now saying no rain for Friday and Saturday, 24C maximum. Let's hope it holds as that would be perfect for the race.
Jet lag is going to be an issue, but I've accepted that my main aim is just to finish and enjoy the day so no point in worrying about it. Looking forward to going back to the UK again.
Have you both at least got time to get your legs back before you fly back?

Are you really Emmy? The OC is beautiful, actually did you say youre in LA? Full of smog, so can understand if its the clear air you are missing. Its raining here today, had thundershowers the past few days.
Mates in Europe (Geneva) say its really hot at the moment.
I'm going to try salt tablets for the first time during the race, in true Pirate style! I'm actually living in OC, so air quality is OK. I suppose I'm looking forward to see family and friends more than anything else.
Lars, you are too competitive for your own good! As this is my first IM I am aiming to get around under the cut-off so you should definately finish (beat if you think I will be racing) in front of me :-)
A best piece of advise I was given before my 1st ironman was (nutrition)
If you don't eat you won't finsh! You may have to ignore how bad you feel and try everything on offer.
Emmy after my 1st 70.3 at sherbourne I suffered badly from dehydration and was convinced I needed salt tablets? They at the time were essential as I was only drinking water.
After talking to a ironman trainer at the time, He said if you stick to gels and powerbar drink you don't need to supplement them with the tablets?
This I would say is right, I've never taken any after that but I do try to stay with powerbar 50/50 with water and ofcourse coke?
My stomach always gets grumpy towards the end and taste buds weird, so I try a few things but tend to just stick to oranges coke and water.
The best thing ever is the thought of being able to eat as much as you can and it probably won't be half as much as you need?
Good luck the weather sounds OK a bit of rain might be quite nice but not as a spectator?
I was thinking the same while running this morning. I'm just looking forward to getting started now. Thanks for the advice ironingman. I'll be eating Cliff bars (Chocolate brownie ones are lovely) and Gu gels. Will also probably have a cheese sandwich 1/2 way round on the bike, nice to have something savoury. Will have Powerbar Endurance in aerobottle and just get water and coke from aid stations.

repeat twice more ;O))
All the same good luck to all participating
in what is a great event.
Tapering
I love this bit the closer to the race nerves help shed the last few pounds of weight you feel better than ever and can't wait to get at it.
Exciting stuff.
I WISH
3 hills 3 times = 9
What date are you going out?

The last thing your legs need is a hill to run up?
A cool day?
Now for two weeks tapering and trying to remember to cut down on my eating.
Also, I have just checked the 10 day weather forecast..... I hope it is wrong

As we are not online at home I haven't downloaded the latest IMtalk yet, but I doubt they would ever mention me.
Maybe aaaaaaaaaaaaaage-grouper of the weak? No chance. More like weeeeeeeeeaaaaaaak age-grouper.
Still like IM talk, and if I ever swim in money I would even sign up with coach John, try to get under 12 hours, maybe one day even 11.
This year 12:30 would be great, 13 would be nice. Beating BB, priceless.
Maybe next year :-)
