Got mine today but had to go down to the Post Office to get it as they hadn't put enough postage on it. Cost me £1.05 to collect it cos they were 5p short on postage.
Yep, me too. I have e-mailed them at 2007@nfma.org.uk to point out there will be a lot of unhappy people about. Perhaps you could e-mail them too?
First glitch I've ever experienced with this race. Unfortunately, the second one followed swiftly when I discovered it's impossible to get there by train from south-west London for the new, earlier start time. Anyone fancy car-sharing? Please.
Hi half marathoners! I've transferred from the full to the half this year due to injury.
My friend has asked me to enquire if anyone has a girls number they'd like to transfer as she completely forgot to apply for this race we decided we'd do together!
Me too FF. Marathon dreams on shelf for the moment. Mind you, being mad I'm looking thoughtfully at Luton on Dec 2. Treating this as a long slow training run therefore (I'll be the slow one at the back paying too much attention to her HRM)
Good luck - hope you get a place. I just nuked my salary buying custom made orthotics, so there is now NO EXCUSE for gait related injuries ... See you at the back of the pack!
I got my race pack last weekend - half marathon....and btw, I'm going to be the one at the back as I recently moved house and seem to have "forgotten" to train properly...d'oh!
I did FLM this year and have only run once since. I am registered for this race....help! Would it be very silly to even go for it, or shall I just plod along at the back?
I would have thought you would have the muscle memory to build your mileage up quite quickly if you managed a marathon in April....but I would start doing some kind of training and I certainly wouldn't have thought it would be a good idea to 'go for it!'....but then that's coming from someone who gets injured really easily. I would just bear in mind that FLM is a flat course and New Forest is far from that!
Join me, Redhead and Pegg for a nice plod through the countryside at the back of the pack if you like )
Thanks for the reminder FF - I've been meaning to look at the course profile for a while...wish I hadn't now! The first three miles look painful and then that climb in the 8th mile looks like a killer!
Got my number a couple of weeks ago... sufficient postage payed this time by the organisers :-D
Really looking forward to it now!
Trying Hard, I'm sure you'll be fine, just keep to a realistic pace. I did Reading half the other year with minimal training, I just kept a nice slow pace and got round.
Sounds like there's going to be a nice tortoise group at the back then ... What's everyone's race number FF, Pegg and any other relaxed people, so's I can look out for you? Don't know what my substitute number is yet - hopefully they're working on it!
Hi, and thanks for the encouragement! I did Henley HM and Marlow HM last year with very little preparation and managed to finish, albeit very near the back....so maybe I will treat it as a very gentle plod! A bit concerned that I haven't had my race pack through. The confirmation letter said to let them know if it hadn't arrived by 16th August. Has anyone else not heard?
Hmmm, dunno TH. I did receive the marathon one pretty quickly, but then sent it back again to change races, and haven't heard again since. I'm hoping mine's just in a race swap system, but if this was your original choice I'd send them a message. This time in 4 weeks folks ...
All the packs should be despatched by the end of this week. Because we're packing and despatching in roughly number order, the last numbers to be sent out are 3000-3500. Let us know if you've not had your pack by Sept 1st. Names and numbers are listed on the website www.nfma.org.uk

That'll teach me not to sit at the laptop with a credit card and a bottle of wine! Seemed like a good idea at the time...
...hence the justgiving addresses, I figured if I was going completely mad I may as well raise some cash for charity at the same time!
Not sure about those hills though...might have to get an OS map to overlay the route onto so I can suss them out...
Didn't enter in time so will be doing this next year instead!
Hope you all enjoy it.
Hi,
To anyone who entered and ordered a t-shirt with their entry. Have you received it yet (the bumpf said they would be sent out "early June"!)

Mine was also short on the postage - sounds like a bit of a cock up was made.

I'm 2557 and two friends are 2555 and 2558 so we feel it's our duty to find out who 2556 is...
