Sounds great Gyraffe. I ride out with my local tri club as well, if you fancy that then send me a mail through this site and I'll give you the details.
NM, I am further south than you, between Ashford and Canterbury. Been doing rides over the North Downs of late and like you tend to ride on Sunday mornings.
yeah, likewise! Maybe try to link up at the ride that Barley is talking about?
I'm thinking of signing up for the summer midweek OW sprint series at leybourne lakes (Nr Maidstone) - not sure if that appeals (it may not be convenient)! Leybourne lakes Midweek Series
Stuck my entry fee on my interest free (at the moment) credit card! lol At least I will have paid that bit off before they start whacking the interest on.
Hmmm hadn't thought of it that way PSC. Bit more of a positive slant than just taking part I guess! So maybe that is what I am doing. After all I am only racing myself! (Oh and the cut off clock )
the cut offs are huge though - I still think you shouldn't fret
1.15 for the swim is fine - that's way more than the IM swim cut off proportionately - it is allowing you over 15 minutes per 400m, which I reckon is more than enough and doesn't seem too bad, does it?

Does racing very slowly count?
Nobody told be about cut off times
What is a reasonable time for a not terribly fit slightly over-weight short bloke in his mid 40's? Plum, help me out mate!
And the same question for a female - same condition and age?
I was thinking around 7:30.
Yep, sounds reasonable. Or is that the start time!
there isn't a cut off so stop fretting!
and PSC - I don't think someone who can do 100m in the pool in 1.41 should be worrying..., apart from about sandbagging!
but Rio you will get the late start time as women go last, after the old men
It says there will be a cut off 1:15 (I think) from the swim and others for the bike and run. But they only apply to the time from the last wave.
Maybe if I wear a wig and get some wrinkles no one will notice me slipping in with the men
