I just can't make up my mind about having an IM tattoo. Its almost certain I won't have one but every now and then I think about it.
I'm really interested in who has had an IM tattoo done and why? And where is it?
Will you get a tattoo once you've done an IM?
Or have you done an IM, thought about a tattoo then decided against it? Why?

No no no no no. It's only a corporate logo.
I used to have a TVR which I loved, I'd longed to own one for years. I still wouldn't have it tattoo'd on me though. Nor would I have a Nike tick tattoo'd on me just because I've run in Pegasus trainers for more years than I can remember.
Seriously though, Tattoo's are a personal choice. If that's the sort of thing you go for then fair enough, but don't feel it's something you just 'must' do because you've raced an Ironman.
Give it 10 years and their solicitors will be chasing you down for breach of copyright anyway
Me!!!
Nooooo!!!
I was wondering about that too. Part of me says No Logo. And the other part of me wants, when I'm old and wetting myself in a home, for my carers to know that I wasn't always senile and dependent.....
But maybe it would be too wrinkly for it to be legible anyway. Or maybe I should get it done when I'm 70, so that the wrinkles can be built into the design.
Mine is on my shoulder - so you'd only see it on the beach or swimming.
And I never go swimming !
At The Grizzly this year there was this much older looking woman lining up, just like every one else. But then I noticed her IM tattoo and suddenly my perception of her changed.
I know it shouldn't have but it did. I had this sense of awe towards her and felt a huge amount of respect towards her eventhough I didn't even know her or talk to her. Her tattoo spoke volumes to me.
Is that shallow that just because of her tattoo it set her apart from the other runners to me?
And out of everyone that day I just remember her very clearly (and KK of course!!!)
oh yes Newtons, have been meaning to ask about those too.
Did you get some Cougie and do you feel a difference in them? And not just when you're wearing a halter neck??
And yes - you should feel awe for anyone so IM tattoooed up.
Just posted on Snorks thread about the shoes. Only got them Saturday and only managed one run in them so far, so very early days, but I think I like them.
I kind of like that recognition, I have earnt it.
I have one. As with Ditchy, I want to give the nurses in the home at least one topic of conversation when they are stuck day after day dressing and feeding me.
Mine is well hidden though so it is only a priviledged few (and the nurses when I get to that stage) who see it.
so Meldy you have one then? Where is it?
So far KK, IronSnorks, Holly and Cougie have one.
My spin instructor has one or two or 3 plus an mdot pendant...he has done 7 IM's.
yeah you have earnt it.
When I saw that woman's tattoo, it really set her apart and I was impressed and wanted to know more.
I guess it's like wearing a badge.
thats where this woman had hers too.
Just shows that while you may forget about your tattoo, somewhere someone is noticing it and registering what you have done.
AL... I was thinking of asking the same question myself only yesterday, its a bit of a dilemma.... on the one hand I think I'd also like to have someone notice it when I'm old and decrepit (or older and more decrepit)... on the other had I hate tattoosand I hate the thought of having a logo....
I think I'm leaning towards NO, after all I'm doing this for me, I couldn't really care less if anyone else knows....until I'm a dithering old wreck.
