Woah there people - had to read three or four pages of confusion until I got to Julia's post and realised who Toffee Fudge is Fortunately the photo made the identity of Fussy Wimp clear - I just couldn't remember who belonged to Toffee Fudge's familiar avatar I do like the idea of names based on toenail shades though.
Crikey - almost one week of the school holidays down and I feel like I need to lie in a darkened room - anyone else share the pain??? We're having lots of fun but I'm exhausted and not getting out to run much as no nursery/school and OH on long hours this week Have only been out twice but claiming that's taper rather than laziness............. Number is 315 for Sunday TF - hope to see you there!
Sorry everyone around you has been so ill Rom - hope that all are on the up now and that you don't get hideously run down this week!!
So Fairy Elephant, does the muttering mean that you're now down for two halfs???? yay you!
When is the Brighton marathon please you two??? Will you do it as well as London if you get into the latter or are they too close?
Who was it that's doing Grim 8???? My running partner said she's game if I am, so giving it some serious thought......
Good luck on Sunday FW!! I've a friend who has done the winter and the summer ones and said it's the best sense of achievement he's ever had. Although he did say once he'd covered both of them he'd tick it of the list and not go back They don't actually electrocute you do they?????
I know we're not allowed to talk recipes *whispers to avoid upsetting Julia* but can anyone suggest tasty carb recipes, I'm heading towards pizza and that's probably not the healthiest
Slowsnail Brightons the week before London I think- over on THe Brighton Marathon thread there are some nutters who want to do them both and some more besides!!!#
Hope the knee is OK Fussy!
Slowsnail I made pizza but bought a wholemeal base and put lots of yummy thngs on it- much better than buying one!! Tried convincing my OH to make me a pace but he was stuck at work and his only offering was Chocolate Orange Cheesecake off his menu- needless to say I left that til after the race- honest!!!
Obviously not piglet flu as feeling better today- still a bit under the wether- but that could be down to the earlies i've been doing as they're not my favourite shift!!!
Happy running all- its tipping it down here, wish I was feeling better I Love running in the rain
Am with you on that one SS... have cut, glued, playdohed and baked my way through this first week of the school hols... only 6 more to go ... posted on facebook the other day that it must have been a man that devised 7 weeks all in one go.. but apparently not, (taken from status reply lol of one of my friends) "btw was a woman politician, geraldine baker and whos husband never worked,he looked after the kids.. " I reckon we ambush her if shes still alive..... and no, not entered for 2 half's.. crikey lol.. would be panicking.. althou feeling good about it now and looking forward, specially as have cut down other excercise, was feeling tired all the time cramming it in, and the Half schedule from RW has me running 4 times a week as it is... lmao as I went for the train hard schedule.. and yeah FW (lol Fussy Wimp hahaha) Nutter would be amongst one of the words used to describe me, alongside crazy, loud, dizzy, Mad etc..
The marathons in May Julia, Windermere... not entered... YET.. haha..
Richie68.. makes me feel more confident when know others are sharing same feelings re doing their first halves.. specially Guys far too much bravedo in my house!!
Have lost track or didntt even know in the first place.. please enlighten me.. who is racing this weekend and where??
Hope injuries and illnesses sort themselves out for you all too....
It's me that is doing the Grim and VikW is thinking about it. Going on the Saturday not the Sunday. It's a blast!
JT doesn't mind recipes honest. How about a potato based pizza?- that's what I'm having tomorrow- if you want the recipe let me know and I'll dig it out.
Heading for HP with the Toffetes later.
Found a great pic of Toffee Fudge Brownies and was going to tweak the avatar too, but too techie for me!.
Having run yesterday I'm now "tapering" for Sunday. Don't want to peak too soon!!
I wll have to catch up later on as just got back. Weather report in the mid 40's what a scorcher. Managed two outside runs one 5-6 miler and one 3-4 miler rest of the week took advantage of the full gym in hotel 5K runs and 10K X-trainer or bike. One 5k I put elevation on 12% and ran at 10km/h speed to say I sweated would be an understatement, pools of sweat eveywhere. The only negative part of the holiday was I must of ate 4 weeks food in one week and just drunk to much wine. The scales will hopefully lie.
I was too hungry so had to eat and therefore aren't running tonight! I might go for a short one before I go and pick HL up tomorrow morning. At this moment in time I AM going to probably die on the TG course. We'll see.
Welcome Ritchie. Are you as confused as me with all these name changes?!
Fussy it really was a slip of the fingers, i AM convinced you are not a toughgay, you have a child after all................
Snail, glad you shared my confusion! My THL is very low maintenance and i get to lie in on non work days in the school hols so i never want them to end i'm afraid As Vikki says, only one week between Brighton and London so i will only be doing the one...................................!
Iccle recommended a good book which i got off amazon, food for fitness by anita bean. Lots of nice recipes, how does butternut squash rissotto sound? I'll post it if anyone fancies it.
Iccs Hal's marathon book came today, looks good, better than the marathon's for dummies book i'm reading at the moment.
Toffee i'm still waiting for the HR book. Did you call you HL's toffos of toffiffees? lol
Have a nice weekend Sally!
Fairy a marathon in windermere sounds bliss, i love the lake diistrict. as long as you don' t have to go up the mountains!
SALTY! I know that's you, i recognise the picture. no flies on me as fo....i mean toffee fudge says. Hope you feel better. and enjoy bmf assessment if you do it, you'll be classed as super fit i know
DC3 nice to have you back, glad you had a lovley time. i have stopped getting on the scales staright after holidays, you know you will lose any excess within the week. it's just fluid retention!
FW my mind is now boggling at your sore throat cure....5 hours to get home was a pig hope your knee is feeling ok.
TF glad you enjoyed HP, .........................do you think this is coded enough?
Did a slow 8 miler this afternoon and am pleased to report an average of 10.50 so my 12 min mile days seem to be behind me. yippee!
4 miles tomorrow then 5 sunday with 3 of them fast. must tot up my month;y totals sometime

Good luck Snaily and Foxy for tomorrow, hope you get to meet up then you can tell us what each other are like.................
Fussy Wimp good luck at being a Toughguy tomorrow, just think of the respect you will get from all us ladies if you decide to compete, isn't that worth a little pain ?
Hope you get better soon Vikki!
If anyone else is racing and i've missed you, good luck as well.
Did a slow 4 miler today, legs a bit stiff after yesterdays 8 but i'm thinking of my zips. Crikey, i've just tatalled this months mileage and it comes to 88.5. WOW. If i can stick to the plan for the next week that'll be my first ever 100+ mile month. woohoo.
Got my backside out of bed aafter all (must have been something to do with nothing decent being on telly???!!!) and did 3miler tempo run round bushy park which was lovely!!!
Good luck foxy and snail!! And Fussy Wimp- I am a double tomorrow so will be thinking of you all! i will be awaiting your race reports stuck at my desk away from all the natural daylight
Welcome back from holiday Darren, hope you had a wonderful time whilst away
Good luck to Fussy Wimp for tomorrow - can't wait to hear all your toughguy stories and hear about the bumps and scrapes picked up along the way If your HL is anything like my two little ones, he'll bu super impressed when you show him any injuries and tell him how they came about Not that I'm under the impression that toughguy contestants come away with bruises or scuffs ............... Have fun.
Hoping to see you tomorrow FL/TF. Am off to ponder the question 'what have I done to enter a half ..........?'
Good luck anyone else running - hope your double isn't too awful Vik!
11 weeks until 4parks btw folks, not wishing to panic anyone or anything!!!
Slowsnail- have just made the mistake of reviewing my training over the past couple of months. NOW I'm worried about tomorrow. If it was a road race I'd be borrowing some Heelys! As it is may be I'll just find a horse!
Just been out for a quick 3 miles at 8:45 pace. No pain as yet. Although there wasn't after my run on Monday until 2 hours afterwards! At this point in time I AM going to do the TG race tomorrow.
Where's SP / Princess? Hope she's feeling better and her assessment went OK this morning.
Enjoy your lie-in tomorrow Vik! Lazy b*gger.
Have I missed something? What 'zips' are you thinking about JT?
Well, I'm registered, have signed my 'Death Warrant', had my race number drawn on my forehead in permanent ink and am now back in the car getting changed.
There's a lot of nails looking rugby-type guys walking around but equally some Toughgay looking people like me. I just want to survive!
Saw a few of the obsticles on the way up to registration. Wish I hadn't!
The easiest looking one was called Viagra Falls where you have to slide down a hill on your bum into a nice, muddy pond and then make your way through to climb out of the other side. Can't wait!

Hello to all newbies.
Hope you feel better for your assessment tomorrow Bananahammock girl.

Anyone else think we've successfully confused Darren??

HP was good. HL2 spent half of it on my knee.
'Mare, how's the knee?
