Hi all, in on this one-Clairster, jumped on here from Snowdon thread. You make is sound a very nice course, I do like it around there and it will actually be good to be close enough to actually do a bit of training up there too. Be good to have a descent at the end as opposed to a killer hill like Snod.

Nowt wrong wiv me !
I'm special, cos everyday this week I have been travelling on the big special bus.
Now then Muzzy, you appear to have a reputation! What's this all about then?
Brer
Hi Brer
You take no notice of those Stockport wimmin.
I first met Mort and Clairster at the Belper Rugby Rover 3 or 4 years ago where a bit of mickey taking took place. I have since tried to support their clubs 10 mile race (Stockport 10. A very well organised race, but I didn't say that, my computer was hacked ) and the gentle North/Midlands rivallry has continued ever since.
Anyway, application form printed and as I am planning on running along Cromford Canal one day this coming week, I shall drop it into Ian whilst in the area (I'm too tight to waste a stamp, must be that northern influence)
If it was 3 years ago that I did BRR, then you may have been new to runing but you would have still beaten me. I was the last runner home the year I did it, and was behind a few walkers as well.
In fact, now I think about it, wasn't it you I was talking to in the car park after the race ?
I wasn't a member of a running club and hadn't done any off road running before, and half way round I just stopped and thought I can't do this!!
I don't remember chatting to anyone in the Car Park?
Claire Mc - Must have been someone else.
Mort and Clairster - not only do I possess a red WP mug, I now have a Stockport 10 shirt.
If anyone sees a fat bloke bouncing along Cromford canal this week in a bright yellow and black Stockport shirt, say hello cos it's me.
This looks like a fun race. I did the Yorkshireman full in Sep, and loved it. My first trail mara. Think this is a comparable event?
Thanks.
Jug
I thought the Yorkshireman was a full on cross country race (I may have it mixed up with something else though).
This is run on old railway beds. It is mainly flat until the final downhills, there are no major uphills (though the full starts on a slight incline that is not noticable).
Muzzy, I may be doing a Cromford Canal route on Saturday. I need a 14 miler, do you have one of that distance in mind? I just dont fancy a road route this weekend esp if its going to be nice weather so a jaunt along the canal was in the reckoning. Cheers
Brer
Brer - Cromford Canal is only 5 miles in length from end to end (Cromford to Ambergate). You could always do the canal there and back from Cromford with an excursion upto Black Rock (or further to Middleton Top) from the junction on the way back, a steep uphill and then back down which would reconstruct the final couple of miles from the WP race (the downhill bit and last mile along the canal that is).
Alternatively you could drive to Middleton Top and do an out and back along the course going away from the finish to start.
Had a great run yesterday morning...ran from home to Uttoxeter with a lady from our club that is our number 1 lady....we went cross country and did 14 miles, it was quite hard, wet and muddy, but good training! I ache quite a bit today, specially round the backs of my ankles. (struggled at the gym at 6.30am today!)
Anyone running the Belvoir Challenge. I am, not done it before.
What distance you doing at Belvoir. I've done the 15 before, and depending on which way round they run (it is alternated each year) there is a lovely steep escarpment to either go up or down.
If it is wet the course is very very muddy.
You can get half way up the escarpment before you slide back to the bottom.
The food and all that cake at the checkpoints make it worthwhile though.
welcome aboard Juggernaut , you wont regret it
5 miles.
Cheers for info EM, just recovering from tooth abscess/antibiotic course and not feeling to brill at the moment so I may have to postpone until next weekend
Never mind
Brer
get well BR (())
Thanks Clairster, just got back from Cromford.
Delivered my entry for the half, if I got the right house.
Quite right Brer, never do today what you can put off until tomorrow (or until some saddo does it for you. ) Get well soon.
Edited to add further info for Brer:
It is a mile and a half from High Peak Junction up to Black Rocks and a further mile to Middleton Top, so the canal both ways plus a diversion to Middleton Top would take you to around 15 miles.
Cheers Clairster and EM for good wishes and info. Tooth out today so am feeling sorry for myself, hope to be able to hit the trail on Saturday though!!
