I'm trying to persuade Mr LB to run it! But he's flat on his back at the moment crying about a bad back! It's a week after my death at Nantwich so I'm afraid I'll only be there in spirit
We have had over 300 entries to date with numbers increasing at a faster rate as word gets out. Think you will be ok until your Feb pay day but I wouldn't leave it much longer.
Entry list is updated on the web site every week Entry List
A quick update to answer a couple of concerns some people have raised about the route:
We will have comprehensive marshalling and a video camera to eliminate confusion and ensure that all runners complete the initial Guilden Sutton loop
There will be a half way chip timing mat for split times (& video camera) to validate that all finishers have completed the loop at the Queensferry end of the course.
With the race being run on a Bank Holiday Monday - it is bound to be an overcast cool day - perfect for running
I wasjust looking for pictures of the river footpath and came across this picture of part of the course, it's pretty representative of the greenway as a whole.
I told a few of my clubmates about this race a couple of weeks ago and I see that they have now entered - I am sure that a few more will be doing it - perhaps a dozen or so from our club?
Having experience the parking fiasco at Windemere last year I am hoping that parking/exiting the parking area will not be a major issue for this event
I have just see the list. I will put my money on Julian (although Pugheaven might disappointed that I am not betting on him to win it).
Over 300 is definitely a good start. Well done.
Hahaha, that's ok Denis, to win a Marathon is slightly out of my league, but I'll be up the business end hopefully... fingers crossed no injuries... training is picking up now...so should be in good shape end of March, then April is going to define what I do I think... got Chrostleton 5k, Chester Half as warm up races... in May...
Just entered ... it will be my first marathon. Was born in Chester but rarely get back thesedays ... will be great to spend the weekend there, see some relatives, do my first marathon and be able to "tip my hat" to my folks as I run past the cemetery where they're buried. And it's a flat course ... perfect!
Ah after a bit of forum surfing knew it woudn't be long before Red Panda popped up! How are you dear? Are you doing this Chester one? I'm contemplating it as wanted to do Halstead after Paris this year, but a friend has booked her hen night the night before, so now looking for alternatives. This one looks promising!
Some news for runners - We have received approval to close the greenway to other users during the marathon, so no bikes, dogs or walkers to get in the way of runners. Plenty of room for spectators to watch & cheer from the verges though - leaving the path clear for runners
This is great that you have received the approval to close the greenway to other users. I always find it difficult to run when bikes/dogs/horses/walkers are around.
