I like your attitude FB, lol. A week to decide .... maybe they do a payment installment scheme
I'm guessing it will fill up fast?
EDIT: because I can't spell.
I doubt it will sell out before Christmas, there are a few competing events and the majority of people who were planning IM for 2011 will have already have entered a European race or be holding on for IMUK/Outlaw to open.
Looks like DH is going to be doing it He figues he may as well make the most of my maternity leave!!! I'm sure thats not why I get the time off but hey Think he fancies the M. with the welsh dragon on..... Here we go again!
I'm really really tempted too, but don't think I could do another IM so soon after IMR. 20 years ago it wouldn't have been a problem but nowadays I need more recovery time.
Having just ridden the 120 mile bike route I can safely say "Its a bitch of a course" with short sharp climbs, a couple of longer (one is 16%) climbs with some sweeping descents and some long stretches overlooking the coastline, a cracker.
Pepples.can you give us a profile or a route map........................I'm not sure about your description iof a bitch of a course..I haven't got a granny ring on my new bike
So what does everyone think of this one compared to Outlaw if they had to choose just one in 2011?
I was up for Outlaw as my first long distance but this sounds like the scenery will be too good to miss! I would love to do both of them but won't be able to afford both decisions decisions
you can't compare can you as IM Wales has yet to have taken place!
I did Outlaw and it's a cracking event - fast course, good location, good organisation so everything you really want in an IM distance race. and with more events next year, Outlaw will need to capitalise on the 1st running as there are now more UK LD races to attract money away elsewhere.
I do wonder if the UK can sustain 7 LD events when there is also a very active European IM circuit to drag money away to. making a choice is going to become more difficult not less
As a 1st timer then the draw of Hawaii isn't going to be there so I'd go for whichever was easiest to get to. If you're only ever going to do one LD event then go to Europe.
This wont be a flat course but there isn't many where it is flat, not totally flat.
This will be an interesting course with a mixture of flats, short and sharp climbs and a couple of drags. As its likely to be a multi-lap course there wont be anything to gruelling.
if you check the tripetalk thread for this event, Pebble has posted a link to the ride route which is overlong so will need a couple of tweaks. no profile map yet and I guess until the event website opens, we're unlikely to know much more
you going for it 10'?? I'm still undecided but more 51% in favour after the weekend.....
btw - if you remember 8Iron from IMCH05, he's one of the organisers...
Right, I said its a bitch because we had to complete 3 x 40 mile loops, in the IM you will not be going up these climbs x3, but I'm informed it will be x2,
For comparison I did IM France bike route in 6:26, 112 miles. This weekends 120 miles took 6:40.

then I find 2 new IM distance races in the UK...
IMCymru, CHenley or devon c2c..... hmmmm
Sounds like a big tour of the Surrey Hills then? Just a bit flatter Must be very pretty as well.
Meldy
Here is a link to the 120 mile sportive which will most probably make up the 112 mile route

Heard the run was hilly for the marathon yesterday...........I think I am talking myself out of this..........
Sorry Pebble...........there got it right......teach him to have an English name
Petal and I were all set for an old woman's relay team, but IM don't do relays

It really depends upon what you want....

try Lanza or France if you want a tough IM bike - or Norseman or Embrunman if you want a true bitch
This wont be a flat course but there isn't many where it is flat, not totally flat.
