It's probably the only way I'll get a meaningful run in while away, although I've just worked out this will form part of my taper for the Thanet marathon in early September. Carpe diem!
Medal have arrived early and have been stored until we ppack the Goody bags pre race. Race day is onlly 15 weeks away on 20th August. To date over 500 of you out there have entered. Marie Curie Cancer Care are the official Charity for the 2011 Race the Train and are looking for runners. If you want to run for Marie Curie make sure you tick the box on the entry for.
Human power v steam power! As the train pulls out of the station runners will run up the Dysynni Valley within the Snowdonia National Park as the compete against the Talyllyn Railway. Runners and train will criss cross over/under bridges, dirt tacks and streams as runner battle to beat the train.
Remember if you need spectator tain tickets to order them on the entry form. Don't leave it to the last minute, book your spectator train tickests NOW. Many runners either forget or leve train ticxkets to the last minutei. Don't let your family and friends be disappointed. Book train tickets on the race entry form.
Runners don't need train tickets for themselves for thgev Rotary Challenge 14 mile race, only spectator tickets. Runners for the morning racesb 10K and 5 mile race can either book a train ticket to get them to the start,or can get a bus ( no cost for bus, small charge for train)m. The junior 3 mile race all runners go on train (no charg) as this is a special train for 3 mile race only as there is no othger wayt to bto the start of this race.
With race day 14 weeks on Saturda. Talk is already turning to 2012 with charities asking about Offical chaeity status. Come let's get this overe and done with.
By the way is anyone out there picking up this thread as its very quiet out there!
Sir Cowarde de Custarde. Good to here from you. It had gone rather quiet. With only 14 weeks to go before the race I wanted to remind people of the race everyone of the race and get them talking and entering.
Me (for the second year running in the Rotary challenge) and Mr Frodo (a newbie trying the Quarry challenge) are entered - looking forward to it, and we are able to stick around for the Saturday night gathering this year
I've got a couple of ultras in July. I am trying not to *wibble* and failing miserably. It's nice to think I have this event to look forward to afterwards!
Osmotherley Phoenix (33miles) and Lakeland 50. It is safe to say that I am going for a run/walk strategy and assuming I will be getting lost more than once
Are you doing the RunLiverpool Marathon in October, Mike?
I couldn't enter Cader, George, though I wanted to, as I was waiting to find out how Shrewsbury Town did with the play-offs (Mr Frodo would not have been impressed if I wanted to head into Wales to race if they were playing at Old Trafford that day) so I have entered the Buxton Half instead on the Sunday.
I wanted to do Liverpool but I'd already entered a race in Nottingham that weekend so unfortunately not. Gonna have another look for a marathon or two around the same time after Windermere.
If you want to take the risk, I know at least five or six numbers that changed hands on here at the end of September last year. It's worth coming to say hello on the Snowdonia thread at least - very friendly bunch of nutters
Looks like I may have community support for the public meeting on 23rd June. Have spoken with a few people who they will give their support pre race, race day and post race. Could this be the beginings of a new events team in the future.
More text and calls offering support for RTT. People with 4x4 and trailers coming forward coming with offers of help. Let's hope they turn up on the 23 June for the public meeting!
