For anyone that thinks you are not good enough, fast enough or too beginner to get a coach, think again.
...
There are also coaches that coach either face to face or like mine remote based(lives in NZ) that grow with you, yes it costs money but you can find someone from £30pm to £200pm - don't think its not for you, if £30 a month for 5 months before a race gets you a 20 week plan with some race info and a slightly calming influence over shitting yourself stupid all year in case you screw up on race day then its money well spent.
Please don't all go out and rush forward with getting the first coach you see at the cheapest price you see, thats not my point, my point is its not just for experienced people, some of us got experienced thru being coached.
Thanks a lot for the interesting and thorough advice.
The issue on the coach side, for me, has more to be with personal self-consciousness than anything else. I have nonetheless being coached for a long time while playing Bball. Team coaching is different from individual coaching though. I am not sure exactly what makes me sensitive to it at this point. It is something I am greatly interested in but
I greatly value the advice given guys. Rest assured I will ponder and feedback you both with further questions. There is nothing like the rush of learning and improvement. Thanks!
Plans? Moi? Mainly based around wound licking, DIY and basket-weaving for the foreseeable. Oh and sock shopping if I can fit it in with all the above going on. Was thinking more coUch than coAch TBH.
Agree about not getting the first coach at the cheapest price too - but that's nothing personal against anyone vertically challenged or owt.
just as an aside on the coach piece .. try and get a recomendation from someone thats found a goodun ... i scoured the web to find one (or try to) when i started training for IM and just got hit with a load of negativity when i told them about the task at hand . Definately some "professional" TRI coaching outfits out there that are more focused on their own self image than on helping their clients IMHO..
Regards buying a powermeter/new bike etc, before doing either of these what I can reccomend, is a proper bike fit and mean proper not some boy in a shop fiddling with the seat height. A month ago I had a full Retul bike set up , and as a result changed my bar position lower and closer moved my saddle down and forward, cleats adjusted etc. Result in the 3 time trials since I have improved my lifetime bests in both 25miles (53:41) and 10 miles (22:04) both in awful conditions, on the same wattage as last year. So before spending big bucks and hoping for free speed get yourself fitted correctly to your current steed.
Hokori, don't worry too much about prior to your race, if you want anything specific feel free to PM me thru runners world, I can help with most tri based stuff.
And see if you can get along to the pirate drink in London on Dec, you might not learn much about tri but you'll find your level in the drinking stakes ?
In fact you might get some tri help, that starts the night, it can descend into a lot more wide ranging subjects after about 9pm tho
Is the PSOF Xmas thing finally in London? I was planning to join you guys ... If you had me ofc, regardless of venue.
Regarding drinks ... That's quite funny because, you see, awkardly for a spaniard, i do not drink alcohol! I would still love to go and I can have a cider because truth be said i can be no pirate with soda right?
I am also afraid to say I am probably more in need of friends that I am for a tri coach.
Rosey thats not too bad a difference, it means that on the uphills you didn't go hell for leather and then coast on the way down. In other words you did not burn too many matches.

interesting stuff there, I'm sure a coach would be good at all levels.
I guess that CRABs plan is to go to the long sock shop firstly.

16th is in London and is decided
26th is decided as a date and location under debate
Wait til you get to 40 .. then you'll know what confused is !!
Sorry, wasnt trying to mislead anyone
what was your NP for the ride ?
Data I got was this before I trashed the sensor.
Time 3.45 Distance 72.5 miles Ave speed 19.2
Average power 239w
Normalised Power 254w
NP may have gone up in the latter stages with the hills still to come but overall power probably would have gone down a little.
I would like to point out that it was a year ago today that Pebble started this thread, he has a lot to answer for.
That is all.
I didn't even do the race in the end

it's all YOUR fault!
