I was already in, but then hubby decided to enter, and I thought it was too late to. Many thanks B, he's now in. Now I just have to do enough training to beat him!
I emailed the organisers re the status of Beachy Head entries.
I received the following reply:
Entries are no longer open via the Runners World site but you can still enter using the link below and clicking the green ENTER ONLINE box.
Kind Regards
Anita
Sorry, I didn't pick up the link from the email and post it here, but it can be reached via the event website. Cost will be £32. Obviously Eastbourne is saving on the RW online entry fee!
I shall email back and suggest they remove the 'Runners World enter online' box, as I (and I think a few others) assumed it meant the whole event was full, when it clearly it is nothing of the sort. (BHM website shows c1500 places left.)
ah - I see EBC have got their thinking caps on arse backwards as usual with their entry processes (thanks for the heads up AP).
I have no idea why EBC have pulled the RW online entry thing but I suspect they want to justify the "huge" layout they've made on their own online entry setup and probably haven't a clue how they RW works anyway - typical council!! don't sweat about that and use the EBC entry page and keep the massive events team happy....
I won't be running this year - I toyed with the idea but have promised myself a year off any long stuff and am sticking to that - so no doubt me and Petal will be marshalling again, and hopefully at Lullington Heath which we have tended to make "our spot" over the last few years.
Wel, I thought I'd bite the bullet and enter (no 9 for me, M...eldy!).
However, on the (badly designed) Eastbourne online entry forms, it says ' I agree to abide by the rules of the event'.
I can't find them on the Eastbourne site! I suspect they'll be what they always were, but who knows. And I can't find any way of asking the 'organiser' (lol).
'If it ain't broke, don't fix it', goes the old saying.. It wasn't broke, Eastbourne!
I signed up for BH a couple of weeks ago. It will ensure I keep my running training up over the spring/summer now I have something to aim for. Last year I entered late on and didn't really have time to do proper training!
Cocoa Pop - As stig has mentioned, choice of shoe is weather dependent. Last year I had intended to wear trail shoes, however it was perfectly fine for normal running trainers. I hope it's the same this year too!
Happy Chap, that hill is rather tough! I side stepped down it last year!
I've posted this on another forum but here's my garmin elevation graph of the marathon. Total elevation 4900ft, c1500m!
Running down one of the steeper descents at around 24 miles is the closest I've ever come to cramping in a race. You need to train for the downs as well as the ups. Get those quads strengthened up, people!
Well I thought that I'd be running Goodwood xc, which clashes with Beachy, again this year but having just left my running club I'll not be doing any xc this year. So I'll be out with the pom poms. Hopefully will get to meet CP at some stage.
chips will be firmly stapled to runners so they don't get lost in the event of wind, rain, fog or low flying aircraft.
I always use trail shoes on the Downs. There again my road shoes are either Fastwitches or Kinvarsa, neither are good on grass or rough surface.

RW is showing as full, but not on the BHM website ... might be worth seeing if you can enter here

I worked for a council once.... joined-up thinking didn't really feature much!
I just wish they'd think the whole thing through before they leapt into action. Good job they're not running the country......ooh, they almost are!
Thanks FB
Beachy Number 7 for me I think

No 7 for me.
Will not be doing Jog Shop Jog 20 this year. I bet they will be pleased as I was last and made them wait for me lol.
Thanks Stig109
There is a Beachy Head thread - yay!
Hi everyone, although some of you I already know!

anyone know if the chips this year will be
a) embedded in the number (brilliant idea)
b) tied to shoelaces or
c) velcro'd round an ankle (not such a good idea)?
I'm in Beachy No.3 for me. Might do some training for it this year..... Did it last year on a longest training run of 8 miles.
Well I thought that I'd be running Goodwood xc, which clashes with Beachy, again this year but having just left my running club I'll not be doing any xc this year. So I'll be out with the pom poms. Hopefully will get to meet CP at some stage.

17 places left.....what to do....
