Sounds like my running events, never again turns into "maybe I can cut my time by a few minutes next time" before you know it you're back in the field thinking "why am I doing this?.........Again!!"
I can't wait now, really looking forward to it and then I'll book myself in for some more.
Is T1 in the car park or just at the back of the pool?
I was looking for this thread yesterday but run out of time before i found it. Thanks for bringing it back into view.
I still haven't got back on the bike since last year, but I am determined to do it before the end of the Easter weekend. So I know that I will be slower on the bike, and my running sin't up to much at the moment as I ahve been seeing a chiropractor.
I tend to go up and camp on the park the night before as it is a long drive for me, so I can't get there in time if I drive up on the day. If anyone wants to join me camping it would be appreciated.
I don't live too far away so it'll be a drive up on the day for me thankfully, that way I can get home quickly and reward myself with a curry and plenty of guinness. Mmmmmmmmm beer
Just trying to jig things around in September so I can do this event again as everyone on here who has done this tri seems to enjoy it.
Supercaz I don't envy you getting back on the bike after a long lay off, pain, pain and more pain. Legs and backside I've been there many a time.
At least it's a relatively short bike leg so if you take it easy it shouldn't cause too many problems.
What a glorious day for being on the bike, did a 200m swim this morning (just over 4 mins) then jumped straight on the bike and did 40 miles @ 17mph, that was with a couple of hills too. Was only planning on doing about 15-20 but just felt good so kept going, must've had a tailwind or something!! Starting to get that lovely cyclist tan that looks ridiculous when wearing anything other than cycling gear
It is meant to be a fun Tri but I like to push myself, it'd be nice to get a decent time on my first event. Just have to see how goes on the day though.
I suppose I ought to get myself organised and enter this. And get my tent out of hibernation too. I'm with supercaz on doing this for fun. 500m swim is a challenge right now and 10 miles is the most I've done on the bike but I'll get round. Who's handing out the Stella at the end though?
As this is my first Tri event I thought that the inflated prices (in comparison to pure running) were due to more organisation required for 3 disciplines plus transition areas. How much was entry last year?
From memory and mines not the best it was about £35. I think I’ll still enter if there are places left tomorrow (pay day) but a bit of a shock. I could do an olly for the same price. They might have good reasons and the folks who run this always put on a big show but it’s a bit strange. Generally tri’s are a bit more expensive than runner’s races because of what you’ve said above surprised. Might just be they have decided to give out medals or something and that’s pushed the price up.
I could do without another medal cluttering up my house (I might have a different viewpoint if they were winners medals) I'd rather pay less for entry but there's nowt I can do now as I've entered already. I'm just looking forward to my inaugural Tri.
I'm just a lazy git really, I shall retire in shame
Look, I'll see how OW swimming goes on Monday first before commiting to Derwentwater, and besides it might mess my hair up before my big festival public speaking debut

On the tarmac area by the pool entrance, You come out of the pool at the back and run round the outside of the pool to the front and T1.
Should be a fun outing as always
You'll be fine...
It will be my 3rd event in 48 hours, Someone have a guinness ready on the finish line please
