Massive congratulations to you seren. Given your supreme training, total stubborness and inherent madness, I didn't doubt that you would be able to do it, but you were thrown some pretty dreadful conditions leading up to and on the day of the race.
I take my hat off to you, mad Welshie!
Hope you aren't thrown out of your room at 9am, or if they try, you give them some abuse!
Just caught up on this - been in Bala all weekend where there is next to no phone signal. Grrr! fabulous work all round, by athletes and supporters - Top Team Pirating! Oarsum achievement from Seren and son (not that it was in doubt!!), commiserations to Symes and Purple, fab job done for you, Ditchy, and just general all rouund fantasticness!!
(three pirates at Bala - Colourin In, Avaluf and the redoubtable Admiral Rosie!)
First time I've been along to an Enduroman event, and was v impressed - lovely chilled out atmosphere, both among the various support crews and the organisers. No idea how the race directors and crew were so chirpy on day 10, with so little sleep - with locals taking signs down etc, they were up every night checking and redoing signs. Felt a bit of fraud getting cheers and claps when only doing the half, when there were people out there doing 20x the distance (many of whom came storming past me on the swim and bike lol)!
Even funnier being cheered in as first lady on the half....when there were only two of us in it! But hey, a kills a kill I guess, and must admit to being childishly excited when they said there would be a trophy arriving in the post. As a definite back of the packer, this makes me giggle.
Nice goody bag and finishers shirt too, and all at a very reasonable price, was v impressed with the organisation, and the fact that on day 10, when some muppet pirate manages to break her bike, the race director cheerfully arranged for a cable tie to appear rather than telling her to feck off....
Great pirate support as always from the Funkinses, Barlos, Schmunkee and SuperCaz.
Lovely to run a bit with Seren on the course and see her looking determined and consistent, and really impressive to see how well her sherpa was looking after her. Sorry to see Purple and Symes not finish, but hugely impressed at how far they did get.
