Thx people now in not very sunny Calella!! Race number 808, had a few last minute training issues but I'll get it done! Science types following me around - check finished last barrage of tests on Monday and sent last set of errr biological samples to lab on same day... Follow up testing Monday after race before we leave - interviews with Spanish media tomorrow - 220 triathlon last week (it's online somewhere!)
Actually racing might be less stressful!!! Run is going to be a pig, but hoping for a solid swim and bike, Jessica has had a complete overhaul this year and only her frame remains
I'll be racing in my charity colours, bluerange, yet to decide on Tri suit vs. separates
Jess is very recognisable in white BMC time machine with world champ go faster stripes, matching helmet, green bar tape black spin on this deep section wheels
I got it it done and in true pirate fashion I was the last official finisher! Got caught in the storm, cycled through a flash flood and a land slide, had a 2 hr swim and feet were so shredded I had to walk the marathon
I think my time was just under 16 hrs, lots of DNFs
And unfortunately one of my friends tragically lost his life on the swim... I don't quite know how to feel this morning to be honest
Oh Gas, very mixed emotions. Huge congratulations to you, sounds like an incredibly tough race. Condolences on your loss and thoughts are with your friends family.
Thursday was ok but only if I a) lose weight b) learn how to run properly c) get some help for the OW panic which prevents me performing in race conditions (and also very very risky in light of recent events)
I'm overjoyed to have realised a dream and saddened by the loss of a friend, but its unforunately a risky sport and it doesn't care if you can swim really well or not... fact, it's dangerous and it can happen to any of us
I guess i'll be run training and CX racing over the winter with the odd 4000m swim thrown in for good measure!
I seem to have a cyclocross race on the 26th?!? i'm conisdering a winter mara/ultra so that i do some fekkin' training at least...Mighty Deerstalker is a deffo in March this year (unless i get sent somewhere by werk)
