Anyway . . . sensible question for a second (soz) . . how many 20's are you planning pre-Taunton . . and what's the furthest you'll go . . distance . . and will you be doing those runs at marathon pace, slower or faster?
Answers in triplicate on my desk by Monday morning please Miss Trinity . .
18 on Jan 25, 20 on Feb 1 (3 hrs), 20 on Feb 22 (3 hrs), Gloucs 20 on March 7, then I have a dilemma because I have 22 scheduled for March 14 but that's Bath half day. I have 18 on March 21...could increase that one I s'pose, then 12 on march 28, then marathon
oi! lippy I'll have you know i ran further today than I managed at lake v. now I've got two mary's in 3 weeks, I must be daft......... though you have done it I believe.
now...funny you should say that Plum, cos I started the prog a little early and still have a week in hand, which happens to be that week you speak of. I have made a note to increase that week if up for it
And Plummy . . remember that Trin's aiming for Taunton so the long run's fall differently . .
Weekly mileage? Well what I actually do and what I told the insurance company are 2 different things of course but . .
. . oh . . oops . . . we're doing running of course aren't we . . .
I haven't actually figured out a schedule yet . . didn't for my marathons last year but that was for all sort of reasons . . illness, redundancy, relocation . . was a case of doing as much as I could really . .
Maybe I should be more structured this time . . . hmmmm . . . off the top of my head . . a couple of weeks at 60/65 maybe?
its a personal thing and we are all different. I used to run long every sunday (in excess of 16 miles) (unl;ess running/racing a 10k). Last year I changed my habits and looked to do more races and less training mileage and it just didnt work for me I got myself injured and only Finished two marathons last year compared to the normal 6/7. I am now set upon getting the trainee through London Sub 4.15 and then trying, body permitting to do sub 3.15 in berlin in September.
Probably not . . quantity isn't quality . . stick to the schedule . . difficult to plan your extra week though isn't it . . . what kind of weeks does it fall between? Difficult? Easy? Average?
I did my last 4 marathons of 2002 (in 3 months) off two runs a week. (work/family etc) and all were under 3.30,packed in smoking to try for the elusive 3.15 and havent got close since.
