Currently doing as my mentor advises and concentrating on swimming and upping my bike mileage. Bike has slipped the last couple of weeks whilst i concentrated on getting around the local hilly half marathon course.
I've managed 60 miles at most on the bike so far, plan to get to 80 in the new year - n.b. Mr Mentor that is not new year's day, any time in January will suit me .
Currently doing not a lot and really need some mojo. Had great ideas of building a big base over winter but just pulled out of a marathon at 10 miles due to feet problems and not a lot of biking happening and definitely no swimming
Wheez if any good Darkness did this one last year and it's appealling to me if you want to go somewhere with lot's of the black stuff after. Looks cheap cheerful and with a good medal. Just waiting for 2014 to be open at the moment.
A race is definitely IMWales all training is going to be focused towards this race, hill swimming, hill biking, and some hill running. Currently doing winter training and getting used to more hill work.
I would like to do a autumn marathon to attempt GFA but this is not a priority.
I'm doing Outlaw as my first and as a complete newbie cyclist, I've been busy building my base. I'm doing a 3 hour ride every week as well as shorter sessions and a couple of runs including a MLR. Not done any swimming yet and am averaging 6-8 hours a week training.
I'm planning to follow a modified Fink plan - not sure which one - in the new year. I think things are going ok but I really have no blinking idea!
For me no ironman specific training yet... Just been doing lots of swimming, as i have buggered my knee up over the last few weeks trying to improve my running.
Doing Frankfurt so the idea is to start fink not next week put the week after...I think
Depending how the knee is, this may or may not happen yet
Not a lot today 30 mins pacey run and some core in the morning, the swimming pool was not available due to a Gala so it was another pacey run for 20 mins to the station still all good base don't wanna build up to quick and burn out or invite in DR injury there's a long way to go yet
Started my IM France fink plan this week. Done 67 hrs of base training since I hit the enter button. 40 min swim and 30 turbo today did 1hr run yesterday. Need to get couple of solid weeks in before Xmas party's start
Outlaw and IM Wales for me. With a family holiday in between
Just chugging away base training at the mo, plenty of bike, running ok, swimming average is nearly up to 2 per month But I know that's not where my gains are to be made...the bike is for me. Not finking but just do my own plan again, averaging about 5-6hrs a week at the mo. Will increase this in jan
question for the 12hr ish IMers (rough target for outlaw), how much should I focus on my swim? I did 1:18 at outlaw off 3 OW swims and only gone up to 3k in the pool, I do have a swim background but tbh it bores me. Ie how much training to get 10-15 mins off or should I concentrate on the bike?
BP - I know full well that it would take a lifetime for me to get 10 mins off a swim but 10 mins off the bike should be a quick win. For me I'd concentrate on B + R. With a swim background though you should be able to get some time off the swim relatively easily.
echoes my thoughts, I'm sticking with plenty of bike miles and although I am consistent with swimming I think I will try an extra 1or 2sessions a month.
Austria for me and training has just started. Good intentions to build a reasonable base during the summer/autumn didn't happen, then picked up an injury which stopped me doing anything for a few weeks. Fortunately I think that's now cleared and I've run twice this week, albeit very slowly, for 30 mins.
Sort of plan to spend the next couple of weeks just gently getting everything working properly again with gentle running, an occasional swim, some pedalling/spinning and possibly some gym stuff. Hopefully will then be in shape to start building properly from January.
5k run this morning in the dark drizzle and very windy. I have joined a masters swimming club, I'm no good at swimming so looking forward to being forced to do it properly.
Barlos, I haven't had any PM's, the messaging must still be broke
Training going shite. I decided to change my diet to help shift some weight and started eating rice cakes instead of bread as I've noticed bread really bloats me.
Didn't realise that rice cakes are a trigger food for gout so I've just come out the end of a 5 week gout attack. Complete nightmare and has immobilised me.
Back to bread... Pain free finally so back to it today.
Spin Class done 45 mins and then back to the gym tonight to do 1 hrs boot camp which so I am told will consist of a mini triathlon, rowing, biking and running

I'm going long this year. Half marathon!

The swimmers here suggest 2 swims a week to maintain & 3 swims a week to improve. Not sure what 2 a month does, other than put you way ahead of me
I despise swimming!
My average is up this year but mainly due to swimming about 10 times on holiday. Generally 1-2 per month...but hasn't affected my times.

I'm sure that i'm not due to start training till after christmas...
Got 30 mins bike turbo and 15mins run on Dreadmill tonight, Cant wait... followed by glass of French Bordeaux Red. Happy days
Early morning starts have been going well so far Just got to make sure i put the same application in on the evening pool sessions
CAT - fancy some Hampton based rides again going forward?
As opposed to the ones where you cycle backwards?
I did my first 60 mile bike on sat in training for my first IM in sep in wales, it took me 4 hrs so i think i still have a lot of work to do,
Swim swum i could easily have sacked it as work ran on but i went anyway only had 20 mins instead of the planned 40 but i went
Swim and run done today.
