Nooooo, don't suggest a team, you are pretty much a similar pace to me and i had chickened out of this. Don't get me thinking about it again! I have entered a 35 mile walk that i was going to run/walk 2 weeks before this. I can't do both, can i?!
For training, a mixture of both really. Time out on your feet is most important. But because of the cut-offs you'd need to do more running than walking.
For what it's worth, I reckon I ran about a third, staggered/plumetted/snorkled about two thirds, and came in about half an hour ahead of the 12-hour cutoff
Thanks for the info. I really fancy having a crack at this. I perhaps don't understand the true difficulty of the task but I guess I wouldn't know fully till I tried it.
Right then. I have had a think and my brain is telling me not to be so stupid. However, i MAY be willing to do this if there was a Plodders team where everyone stuck together and went at the speed of the slowest (most likely me if i do 35 miles 2 weeks before!). I'm not especially bothered at finishing inside the cutoff, i'd just like to finish the route and have fun along the way.
Would really like to do this again, I 'enjoyed' it so much last year - unfortunately have been struck down with the dreaded plantar fasciitis for the past two months. I haven't completely written this one off yet but need a cure quickly so I can get some mileage in.
Stop messing about and get entry forms in. It's cheaper before May. After all; you can only die once. Sayin that,we do have a good record for not losing people. More luck than management though I suppose.

Hi Loz, to 'see' you nice! Hope your running is going well - it must be if you are considering this one again.
I hadn't realised I was on the front of everyone's calendar, I had the idea that everyone had a personalised one with a picture of themselves on, how embarrasing! I know now that I felt as bad as I looked. Maybe there's an alternative calendar girls style career for me - but I won't give up the day job just yet.
I am going to attempt the Garburn trail run in June and assess my fitness for longer runs if I manage to hobble round it.
HiBryan will there be Gin this year? I would probably need some before, during and after give my present condition.
G & T almost a certainty I should think. Available at Hamer and finish. Hamer to kill the pain. Finish as an incentive should you need one; which I doubt. Ravenhall Hotel has changed ownership, but beer still no better nor cheaper, so G&T seems a better option. Thought you might have given up on the G&T in an attempt to get fully fit and win the race(tongue firmly wedged in cheek).
Well, I'm definitely on for my pursuit challenge the week before the race (and I'm definitely not doing the race!). I think it'll probably end up as more walking than running though as I'll be HM-training rather than marathon training at the time.

Where's Haggis gone? I'm sure he was sitting on the fence with us earlier, and he knows how to navigate...
