Cool will see you at beachy head later in the year then Karen
I spoke to the Glenshee hotel today and they confirmed that there are some "special rates" for the runners however they quoted me a price which was higher than the standard advertised rate (although to be fair the website was still showing 2008 prices) If Dario reads this can you please confirm what the prices are as they do seem a tad pricey at £37.50 per person per night based on two people sharing a room ?
PSC wont have time for pubs as he needs to race between our planned checkpoints erect the gazeebo set out our chairs brew up some tea and lay out dry kit and shoes for us to change into
ahha Loon Dod if your sweeper Im sure you will have plenty of time to get to know me and bo-bo as we are bound to be last or as bo-bo likes to call it "Lanterne Rouge" sounds so much better than last
Loon Dod - get your order in you won't be disappointed - our support crew is one-off!
I fell into step with another runner for a section of the Winter Tanners a couple of weeks ago, discussing events London2Brighton came up and although he hadn't run it, three of his club-mates had and he could tell me about the fantastic support crew with gazebo, deck-chairs, stove etc for one and all.
I'll be amazed if they don't pitch said gazebo on the top of some incline or other at some stage of Cateran
the gazebo will definitely feature. Hadn't thought of the BBQ - but it's a damn fine idea! It's been done before (Kent 50 miler 2007).... Not sure I like the term "donkey", sherpa might be more appropriate (particularly with the amount of kit MF7 and Bo-bo insist on JFDI and I having at their impromtu pitstops)!
been playing in the white stuff and thought of you guys no trains, snow-bound cars, how else is a girl to get to work - would it be wrong of me to cross my fingers for more over night?
Bo-bo we had lots of the white stuff yesterday but all gone from my roads now, jsut some up on the hills.
MF7 i did check out the prices and that is the room rate. The website either shows old dates or winter rates or both!! The new bunkhouses due to open up there anyway and they're really good if you want a cheaper option. I'd actually pay £37.50 just to see the old guy playing the keyboard and singing again in the bar area the night after we did the reccy run. I haven't laughed so much in all my life, a classic pub singer who could lip read every word i said.
I heard a rumour yesterday that the Cateran trail relay, the 23 miler and the full 88k ultra are going to take place on the same day. Any idea if there is truth in this rumour? if so, what date will it happen?
SueW im sure one of the "locals" will pop in soon to answer your question fully. But I can confirm that the full trail run is on the 16th May
Karen Ive just read back a few posts and noticed your comments about the pub singer . When we used to come up to the area for our holidays there was an amazing pub singer/pianist called "Geordie" who used to play in the Kirkmichael Hotel (I think it was called the Strathleen hotel then) Anyway it was hilarious as the poor chap was a bit of a drinker and as the evening went on he got worse and worse. Couldnt be the same guy surely could it ?
Karen.... it is the colon symbol then y then another colon : ... There are others like a lightbulb which is colon letter i colon... I had a play one day with all of the alphabet!
Hope not Sue, i've sent my entry for the 23 miler. Got the link on born 2 run website.
That might just be the same pub singer guy. He was so funny. He started a song without words on the keyboard then would randomly throw in a line or 2.
Thanks MF7, i'll have a play about.
Snow on hills up here but none on the ground, blue skies all round. Further north got it bad today and i didn't make a run unfortunately. Got some Pentland hill running planned tomorrow and some more on Sunday, hopefully in snow.
Well done MF7, brilliant time for the distance off road. I got 10 miles in pentland hills, 5 peaks in knee deep snow on Saturday with over 2000ft climbs then the same yesterday but covering just 2 hills. Legs weary today and craving carbs lots!! I need to get some dark headtorch stuff under my belt.
