Just feel I should note the accuracy of my prediction for the weekend with the winners, the margins and the manner...just for rarity value rather than as an indicator of astounding prescienceimage. No really great games though Wales v England was certainly gripping. Good matches can still be produced under the ELVs though. Look at Ireland - France or Harlequins games against Leicester and Stade Français just before the new year.

    Oh dear.

Flood as fly half.  Not a  good idea.   However, I'll be the first to hold my hand up and admit I was wrong if he doesn't play like a donkey and get subbed at half  time with England 12 points down.

I dunno i thought it was quite a good selection - but equally I'll hold up my hand when the above happens on saturday night! image

Have a bad feeling re. France v. Wales - I think the French are going to come unstuck and play really badly. And what's with playing on a Friday night?!? It's going to be a big rush to get home in time for the start of the match and God knows when I'm going to find time to cook.

    It's v. inconsiderate! image

I thought Flood played quite well against Wales when he came on after Goode's yellow........he seemed to get the back line moving quicker than Goode..........

France have been forced through injury into making some odd choices with a centre at fly half, a new cap in the centre, a change at scrum half and some pack changes - and no specialist kicker..........not that I'm rubbing my hands at those changes, oh no, not me....... image

"God knows when I'm going to find time to cook"

get the curry boys to deliver - a few beers and a curry in front of the TV watching the game is the way to spend Friday evening

It's looking a distinct possibility FB! image

Although I'm supposed to be hill training on Saturday so it may have to be just the one beer... image

I've got a 30mile ultra on Sunday and I'll be having a few on Friday and Saturday..... image

Wales doomed. Fooked, going to have to pull this out of the hat etc.

S.Jones over hook................french are going to have him for supper. I feel this is make or break weekend not the 21st of March.

ah TT - while you are here - have you by any chance heard if Xterra is on this year?? the UK website is broken and there's nothing on the US site about it......

    back to rugby

I think you're wrong TT - we have a good chance against Les Freugs

On recent performances Taffia I don't think the French are that scary...unless they've been saving themselves. Flashes of brilliance but not the prospect they used to be. That said they do have a habit of pulling it out of the bag when required. They will probably save that for England though!

LOL FB, I just have a sense of impending doom! Give me a few pints on friday Im sure normal confidence is welsh rugby will return.

Xterra. Will mail you later on.

I just have misgivings with Stephen Jones. I just don't see what is good about him. At best good club player for llanelli in europe but now?

    Carbo-loading FB!

I'm not convinced by ML as coach yet. Can't see them beating England at Twickenham either - could be a bad year.

TT - Wellies has given Wales a steady start in each match so far including last season and Autumn. he's not the flash harry of Hook but he has the experience to know how to play the side into the game - get the job done, get Wales a winning margin and then wheel Hook on to fanny about the park. Hook's day will be from next season - he's still young....

    I sense of relief...........bok ref..............nice.

Lievremont has picked a centre at 10, and four new starters! He certainly likes to mix it up. It's going to be interesting as ever with the French.

Friday???? Eh?  Would have missed that.  Looking forward to seeing France win in glorious High definition.  What time is kick off?

It can't start that late, Henson, Byrne, Powell and Co won't have time to go on the piss afterwards!
  • Options
maybe that's a good enough reason then..........
  • Options

8pm will be past Henson's Curfew anyway won't it?  Is his ankle tag IRB approved?

Sorry, but he's a bit of a Gascoigne, occasional (but too rare) brilliance that simply serves to show what he could acheive, then a liability to himself and others.

I was amazed when he went on the booze on the Sunday lunch time after the England game. You just can't do that these days, and I think he's in the last chance saloon. He does seem a little troubled D74.
  • Options
Henson's his own worst enemy - the comparison with Gazza maybe a bit heavy but the principle's the same.........it's really down to him now as to his future. he's been thrown a lifeline - and not his first by any means - so let's see what he does.......

    Any predictions for the weekend?

I've got a funny feeling England are going to cause an upset in Ireland. I think Wales should just pinch it, but all depends which French team turn up. Can't imagine what would happen to Scottish rugby if they don't beat the Italians. A wholescale clear out probably, after they appeared to be improving in the summer.

    Italy for the win.

As you say, can't predict who will win in Wales v France as  it's a random call as to which teams turn up.  Genuinely has the potential to be one of the great games in recent years if both teams want to play running rugby, or could be dire if neither team brings their 'playing game'.

Ireland by 5 after a pretty humdrum game leading to more calls for a new England Captain despite the fact that none of the pundits (inc amature) have suggested any really feasible candidate.

  • Options
Wales to scrape a win unless they get a good lead by 1/2 time and then France will fold in the 2nd half........or not.....

I don't know about Ireland/England - heart goes with Ireland but I think England could be up for this one after the close game against Wales.........all depends on how Flood plays as the packs are pretty even

Scotland to win but it won't be pretty

It can't start that late, Henson, Byrne, Powell and Co won't have time to go on the piss afterwards!Warren Gatland has made that joke!Having meet Henson. I can say he is nice enough. Just like any young bloke with a lot of cash to burn sometimes when on  a beano, things get a bit haywire. However for who he is and who is miss is, the press lay it on. I have seen worse a club level. Yes international player but he will get a grip come the crunch time. His miss will see to that with a rolling pin. She who is power behind the throne and all that.Anyway I got free bar at a certain rugby club near the mil stadium. Wonder if I can make the Western mail? Local promising club cyclist in 2am wee shocker image

You can just imagine the french players being really disinterested playing so late on a Friday night, muttering that they should be with their mistresses and a good bottle of wine. Knowing how fickle they can be, they may (hopefully) almost literally not turn up!
