I didn't know sex changes could run as women pops, are you sure about that one?
Yes pretty much - 2 years post op I think - there is someone who was either in or close to being in the Canadian women Olympic downhill team who was and there was a former man took the UK domestic time trialling organisation to court, or at least threatened to, in order to get permission to ride as a woman and won.
I think most people agree with that Zan. But people are suggesting that it should have been dealt with before they let her race, rather than let her win gold and then ask her to drop her pants cos she's a bit butch.
The IAAF has announced an inquiry into the way this whole thing was handled.
Too right they should have an inquiry, I think the way she has been treated is appalling...can you imagine being in that situation as an 18 year old, or indeed at any age? Am not saying they should not carry out the gender tests, but the way it has been made public is unnecessarily humiliating.
Apparently it was mentioned in todays coverage of the Worlds that there are several other cases under investigation, they are obviously being handled a bit more discretely
the issue is - all males are part male, part female. Females on the other hand are all female. From a biological point of view if a person is 1% male and 99% female then you are a male. And to compete as a female you must be 100% female - it has nothing to do with what is, or isn't, in your shorts.
It's all very sad. However, as others have pointed out it should have sorted out ages ago.
Why bother with complex scientific analysis..... just ask her to pass three shoe shops without looking in the window.
By that token, I'm definitely a man. (Which I'm not.)
I'm not interested in handbags, either, and I hate shopping...
But hey, at least this whole controversy has given the meeja in general lots of new opportunities to trot out those tired old gender stereotypes to hilarious effect.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Women can't park. Men won't ask directions. Women are obsessed by shoes and chocolate. Men are obsessed by football and leaving the seat up. Etc, etc, etc.
Tests have revealed Caster Semenya's testosterone level to be three times higher than those normally expected in a female sample, BBC Sport understands.
An analysis of Semenya's testosterone levels was carried out in South Africa and it is understood that this information contributed to the IAAF's decision to request the ASA carry out a detailed "gender verification" test on the athlete.
Those medical tests are said to be ongoing, with the results not expected for several weeks.

I think I should have a gender test.
I ran in a race today, and I'm sure I ran like my mother in law

Yeh I would fail that test too
I look in shoe shops and wonder who the hell can wear them and WHY would you pay so much?
Latest update though - the family has taken legal advice for the way this whole thing has been handled.
Or parallel park.
I know of no man that can parallel park as well as I. So ner.

Oh, the hilarity.
and Oh, the sadness of not only reading, but posting on a thread you think is so unworthy.
And Oh, the even greater sadness of bothering to post a reply to my sad post.....
This could run on, but it could just get too sad all round.

Could we not just see if Coops would shag her ?
If he would it's a woman
if he wouldn't it's a bloke
and if he had to think about it it's DM
