WR, MCS, Hillheader, superb running gents, tomorrow is an interval session for me and it seems the weather here is looking good for that, nothing special just 10 reps of 1 min flat out with 1 min rest periods. Hope you all have a great weekend image

I'm in for Ashby as well GE - see you there.

I'm also in for Edinburgh with DT2 who is struggling with injury at the moment. If he breaks down again I think he's writing London off and going for Edinburgh in a big way. If I go well in London then I'm maybe going to pace him for 20 miles and then jog it in from there image

Just for valentines I thought I would do something a bit special. I'm doing not one, not two but three, yes three sessions today. Was in the gym for 30 minutes on treadmill and weights at 7am. Back to gym for 50 minute CV session at lunch and now just got the 10 miler to bag after work. Jo is a lucky girl!

Still got fingers crossed for you mcs

Thanks Phil, last run in the sun today, leaving Dubai tonight for ten days back in the UK, don't know if I'll go running but going mountain biking this week, extra top needed I think!

Dave 3 sessions on valentines day should be done with the wife surely!!!!

That's a bit keen MCD? Did she get an extra special present of dirty gym kit?

WR - maybe 2 tops? still winter.

Snowing again here. 18 miler last night, wine tonight. Heading back to Scotland tomorrow night. Copenhagen on Sunday though.

    Maybe 3 tops HH!

18 miles in the snow, good going.

I was working away in Cardiff on Valentines but yes she did get the kit bag and then the washer broke down image

    Back again...image

18 miles in the snow image that's some going hillheader...rather you than me.

Jo is indeed a very very lucky woman to be married to an old romantic like you Dave...her life must be a whirlwind of moonlight & roses...teehee.  We went out for a run on Valentines, I did suggest we held hands but Mr CS was having none of it image

Race updates... Dewsbury 10k (3rd Feb) a nice flat out & back course...haven't actually done a 10k race properly for 2 years so I was a bit rusty on how hard I should push it...finally nailed that sub-60 (59:17) yay!!! Mr CS said to me when I finished "do you think you should maybe be at least a bit out of breath?" image Oops!! Apparently I should've pushed it a bit harder...ho hum...there's always Bradford 10k next month. And then we have the lovely Liversedge HM (10th Feb) not only have we not got into double figures since the start of November but it's a hilly course, I hate hills, and then the icing on the cake...it started snowing...I was really not in the right frame of mind and struggled all the way round...in fact I was admitting defeat on hills that normally wouldn't even break my stride...was expecting 2:30...would've been pleased with 2:25...I somehow managed 2:18 image  Mr CS was a star on the day though...last time he did that race he got 2:08 so was looking to keep it under 2 based on his much flatter race times from last year...are you ready for this...he finished in 1:44 and got a new PB image

Need to put my game face on and knuckle down to some serious training if I'm to even make an attempt at sub 2 at Edinburgh...it's only 7 mins I need to knock off...how hard can it be??? *whimper* Dave, any chance I can borrow your legs???

Dave, I told Jill about your valentines present to Jo and she said if I ever did that she would never cook for me again - gulp, that really really scared the bejesus out of me !!!

Caz, well done on cracking that 10K pb and a well done to Bruce for his half pb, your both awesome 2013 is shaping up well imho

WR, 18 in any weather is superb, hope you enjoyed your jaunt to old blighty

Very sad day, Richard Briars of The Good Life died today really loved that series, so refreshingly clean in its humour compared to much of today's vulgar trash. RIP Richard.

It was freezing out there today, ran along the coastal path with a strong easterly wind, was well wrapped up but cold throughout.

Phil, at least there'll be loads of re-runs with the lovely Felicity Kendal!!
  • Options
Aaaagh Felicity Kendal, "a deliciously pert bottom" as Martin Clunes commented in an episode of Men Behaving Badly image Yes flipping cold here and I have a 9 miler on the calendar in the morning Brrrrrr! The worst bit for me is dressing correctly, the mental strength not to overdress as you know by mile 3 you will start regretting it and therefore just accepting the first 1 to 2 miles will be frickin cold !!! Such is the runners lot image
  • Options

I will look forward to the re-runs of the good life.

Cold - indeed. Hill run tonight. Very snowy above about 300m with some old drifts probably several metres thick still. Some bits rock hard and grippy, others not so good as the foot punches through. Great to getting more cold weather training in though!

  • Options

    Felecity Kendal or Blanka Vlasic?

I think Kendal might jkust get the nod there.

Yep very cold here again. Went out on my bike for the first time on Wednesday and lost all feeling in hands and feet. Gonna need some proper biking gear.

Last 3 Sundays have all been long runs for me and other than last Sunday there is only me that runs in shorts. Even though it was snowing on one of the days. This Sunday might see a return to tights though image

Cant wait for the warmer weather to arrive

  • Options

Bloke in our group at the club runs in his shorts no matter what the weather...he gets very hot legs very quickly apparently...the rest of us were wrapped up against the cold and he's there tootling along in shorts image

The LSR officially started for us again at the weekend...or rather Monday as it was Mr CS birthday on Sunday and we went to York for the day...brunch in Betty's followed by some mooching around and then off to the cinema in the evening to see Wreck-it Ralph via Krispy Kreme image  Only problem is our usual LSR route is being affected by works on the canal...we have a figure of 8 thing going on which extends/shortens depending on the distance, it has been carefully planned to incorporate an emergency stop at the point an emergency stop may be required but the 2nd half now has a big chunk missing out of it image so some re-planning is in order.

    Happy birthday Bru

Dave, Felicity Kendal, Blanka is too much for me to handle! And the warmer weather has arrived, landed at 0800 this morning and the Captain announced it was 24 degrees, only ran twice at home, I'm getting soft!

Warmth that sounds nice. Only two days left here then new job next week.

If anyone wants to come along and do the Grindleford Gallop a couple of my neighbours in the village have places and cant do the race. Just let me know..............Go on you know you want to Saturday 9th March 10am. image You can walk it too if you dont fancy running.

    Route Summary

Covering approximately 21 miles and 3000ft of ascent the course takes in the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow linking them together with paths, tracks and open moorland of the White Peak. Famous landmarks on the way round include the Riley Graves, Longstone moor, The Monsal trail and of course the stunning Chatsworth Park estate. The final high-level section along Baslow and Frogatt edges gives breath-taking offers of the surrounding peak district.

New job mcs - Did I miss the announcement?

GG - I'm not sure. I like the distance but is the route obvious and well marshalled? Don't fancy getting lost on a training run again.

Congrats on the new job mcs!

You will like this and it made me smile I must admit.

Went to track last night and was wearing a pair of racing shorts with a high split. There's not a lot of material to them but they are great. Anyway, there are some floodlit footy pitches in the middle of the track and every time I go round towards the end of the session some young hooligans start shouting 'Speedos' as they look like trunks (Unless they were shouting Peado? Don't know why they would) Anyway, as I go around on my final warm lap and most others are finished, they gather at the footy pitch fencing and start chanting 'speedos speedos speedos' So I gathered my shorts up and pulled all the material in to the carck of my arse with my arse cheeks on full display and chanted 'ass-ics ass-ics assics'

It made me smile and the lads cheered to be fair to them. All very amusing.

GG route is easy and there are loads of walkers who set off early doing the route too. As you would be at the front you wouldn't have a problem...........
Yep new job in printing again, thought I had escaped after 9 years out of it, did 20 years prior to that and an offer is an offer, its the only one I have had, having a five in my age means its tough out there getting reemployed. Thanks WR et al.

Just checked mcs and I'm racing the Retford half on the 10th so its a no to the GG. Retford will be my first serious race since October - nervous!

Good luck with the new job mcs.

And good luck with the mara training Caz. Although I see from FB that you've clocked up a fair few miles already.

Only 2 more hard weeks before the Paris taper although there's no LSR this week as have got Bath Half on Sunday. Fast course so will be interesting to see what sort of shape I'm in.

    Have a good weekend all.

I see on FB a certain Eagle of the Gold colour has been showing the youngsters how it's done.  Well done hunny...you deffo need to rethink your marathon time though.

Oh no Dave...image indeed...what have you done to yourself, or rather where has Darren stuck the pin the voodoo doll???

Roll back week for us this week...good job too as I was out with the girls last night...local casino do a "dine in style" promo...for £17.50 you get a drink on arrival, a 3 course meal & a £5 chip...I'm guessing they expect you to spend a load of your own money on the tables...obviously not met us...hahaha.  We spent the £5 chip and then went back to the pub we'd met up in.  May have had a little bit of wine *hic* so was in no fit state for anything longer than the hilly 7 we did today image

  • Options

Can you dine in style for £17.50 Caz?

I stepped off a kerb and went over on my ankle. Ankle is OK but tweaked a hamstring and now very sore. I was only crossing the road to put my empty water bottle in a bin like a good boy. Should have just chucked it in the gutter
