I wish the running were as easy as the entering of races!
I have tried to increase my running as I'm hoping to do some 'longer stuff' however my left knee doesn't quite wanna play along Managed to hobble round New Forest half and get a MONSTER of a blister on my foot .
Despite this...I am mostly trying to have PMA (positive mental attitude)
Have entered Shakepeare mara (week after North Dorset) so not sure that I will manage both...hmmm decisions decisions!
Thanks goldbeetle - will do. Am more or less decided now . I did Shakespeare mara this year and really enjoyed it. Got a sub-5 hour for the first time too .
My application goes in the post shortly. Did this as my first marathon last year and enjoyed it so much it's inspired me to do 3 more. Did get beaten by a chilli pepper though.
I have received quite a few entries but I have been busy with the Gold Hill race which is taking place this coming weekend. I will update the entry list ASAP.
I like the sound of this and if I can't get a Brighton place will do it, for those who did it last year I take it that it's a reasonably quick course as doesn't look too bumpy.
I'm considering this one; it's not entirely local but it seems the only Spring M'ton that is not full, and that I can do without having an overnight stay. Past ratings are good, so that's encouraging!
Does anyone know how the route compares to the undulations in the New Forest Marathon?
Are there (reliable) mile markers, and drink stations?
Hi DF, I'm pretty sure the mike markers were accurate this year, and the drinks stations are very frequent, they also had two where you could pick up your own food.
Dutch: From what I remember having done both NFM and NDVM this year, I think they are about the same regarding the hills. Sure they both have hills, but neither are what I would call bad.
I've got my entry in and I am looking forward it. I am hoping to bury a few ghosts from this year's marathon experience.
I will be doing the Meon Valley Plod too. It forces you to run 20 'ish' miles early on in the training and is an experience to saver - especially if you like mud and water.
stret!!!! I do believe we ran the same one on Saturday!! Thinking of this one myself but not sure I like the thought of ANY hills after Saturday....well not for a while anyway!!!

How you doing??
PMA is good if you cant keep it up
Im good yes did studland at the weekend and Im doing Gold Hill next weekend not racing seriously just usig them as a bit training really
Its nce to be racing again
Studland at the weekened must have been a bit moist? (weatherwise)
I've done quite a few events lately, not 'raced' any of 'em, quite liberating to just soak up the atmosphere.
We've recently done Bristol half, Nottingham half and New Forest half, and will be doing Great Eastern Half this weekend coming
bit of a half theme?
anyway this Marathon is Dorset Road Race League and County Champs race next year if thats your thing
Sorry to hijack thread

Thanks for your help!
Many thanks KateF. I have signed up - very excited now.
It'll be my first marathon in 14 years....
Better get on with those long runs now.....

I see you signed up.
Hi SR! That's good to hear - I found the New Forest Half a great course to run.
Yes, I'm in and looking forward to it.
I've also signed up for the Meon Valley Slog - with trepidation.....
We will all be chewing the same dirt and pounding the same streets.
Good stuff!
Working on increasing my mileage at the moment - all should be well as long as I stay fit 'n healthy....
