1st of August at IMUK was the last time I rode my bike
Glad to see the quality sand bagging has started already. Waff, you are a tri goddess, you'll just waft around the course without breaking a sweat as usual.
i got out on my bike for the first time since August on saturday...did 18 miles of the IMUK loop (up sheephouse lane half ) really enjoyed it but it was freezing so i'm gonna give it another couple of weeks on the turbo before i venture out again.
There's a signed Bala entry form on my desk, have a leave pass from Mrs K, just need a cheque and a stamp and Kanga will be in da house Will be heading back to Oz a few days after, so pretty sure to be my last UK race for a while

No sandbagging here my antipodean friend - have been thrashing myself on the turbo for hours each week since winter started. Raargh!
woohooo.nice one Col' we're not camping...we're staying in town in a hotel.... be good to see you there tho....i'll see you before tho i'm sure.
hey interested in doing a training ride in may on the route?? me and a couple of mate are gonna go down and camp for the night (few beers) then ride the course
I'm officially £85 poorer, and on the start list if not start line. LtP - look forward to cheering you home again this year, bit earlier though if you don't mind so we can get some more beers in after
HAHAHAHA! God I hope i'll be home a lot earlier too, fear not, hehehehe Will be good to see you there, woo hooooo!
BTW, Andy a few of us did a bike course recce last May, and camped.....turned out to be the coldest May night in 10 years; logged it at about -2C I think. So don't take a 2-season sleeping bag like I did. Take a 4 season, just in case Hehehehe

The coldest days training I have ever done, Hail stones on a bike ride when I was only in 1 layer of lycra... If it hadn't been for the fact I was the only guy with 4 hot babes I might have died
i think i run a 34 on the front (its a compact)..i can climb pretty much anything with it but it depends how long it is and how long i can hold it for....the top of SH i can do in the seat once...but we did a ride in the lakes where it was about 3 times as long...and i was out of the seat loads..and only just made it without throwing up!!!! i'll be ready for this though this year (and for IMUK)
oh sorry...i mis understood. in that case i run a 27 on the back....but i think thats the max i can get for the 105's i run!!! not that i'm planning on changing it..but i like talking about bikes..lol

Kanga, i'm sure you said you were heading back there last year, so we'll no doubt see you at Bala in 2014
Alan - yeah that's the right campsite. It is a great place, and they have hot showers, woo hoo hooooo!

Dave would you say the ride is tougher than a loop of IMUK??
nope It's the same sort of route
Rolling away from the start, Then a long drag and fast descent Down the A470 is straight and fast, to the turn round and then just the reverse......
The Bala profile is on Wrexham Tri's website..

Sprockets at the back, Rings at the front !
When Graham built my bike last spring, He tracked down the 29 especially for Bala and IMUK
I wished id a few extra gears going up the beast at IMCH.
You cant have to many gears
