glad your on the mend TR!! hope all is better by VLM...
nice miles Abbers!
GM- you planning on breaking the hour for the half before VLM? he he. It's so surreal when you say it like that and I(a mere mortal) struggle to break 95!!
8.5 for me tonight with 13x2min windy hills thrown in! thought it was going to be a nice warm night and underdressed! blooming freezing! ticked off though!
TR - Slog on then. I had calf issues last VLM, it's debilitating, so, glad yours is less of an issue now.
Poacher - Thanks. Will check it.
R26 - Nice run! Hah, no way man, I can run 200m at that pace and then just about carry on living. He has yet to break the sub 60 but reckon he could do, if he races. Whether he can convert that sort of speed to the full marathon is unknown but we'll hopefully find out come VLM.
Mennania - we'll let you off the 5 x 4.5m! Good pace. Abbers - nice easy miles - sounds appealing! GM - Still over 11 weeks to go so haven't decided on a target MP yet. Sounds like you're nicely ticking over. TR - really hope that calf will play ball now. Rich - 13x2min windy hill work sounds a tough one - well done. 11 miles this morning. 3M w/u (8:13, 7:45, 7:38), 7M marathon pace effort (7:04, 7:06, 7:07, 6:59, 7:02, 6:56, 6:54) and 1M w/d (7:51). Pleased to manage a more disciplined, evenly-paced effort this week.
Good effort there gul - I am on a double today but after last nights 14m feeling a bit jaded, may just do a 3 and 3 for proper recovery. Am settling on under 2.55 now GM, I haven't decided how far under yet..
Sounds as though you had a very similar one to me this morning. I was on 10 with the the middle 6 (which I extended to 7) at 7:00 pace. I haven't calculated what the average pace was but all the key miles were in the range 6:45 to 7:05 so pleased with that.
Toenail update: it's still hanging on in there, but it's now gone a rather odd colour. Will hold off the photos at this stage.

TR - Good news on the calf. Hope it lets you do the miles you want for the next couple of weeks. Not an ideal build up!
Rich - Well done on the hills session. Get through to the end of the week, then it's 3 week taper time
Gul - Very nice run (again). Mara paced effort gives an average of about 7m/m then?
OO-51 - Good miles. Hope the knee is nothing to worry about.
Menn - that's an impressive target, and you've certainly got the speed for it. Will be great to see how you go.
Lorenzo - Another wiht a very impressive run early doors. Looking good.
Hmm, targets. Tricky one. Think I'm settling on A, B and C, although still tempted to be slightly more conservative on my first attempt so I don't blow a gasket and hate the day.
Abbers - I am just ticking along, not doing much mileage (25-30mpw) which suits me. As long as I can squeeze in one longish run a week then I am happy. I know I made the correct decision to have a break from marathons. Two last year for me was enough and I was injured during both campaigns so hopefully I can have an injury free spring & summer and be fighting fit to attack the Jersey marathon in October. I would be amazed if you didn't love the whole London marathon experience regardless of the result. I decided last year I wouldn't be in a position to try smash it, so took it steady for the 1st 18 miles and I really enjoyed the whole experience. My lack of endurance told in the end but it wasn't a death march and I loved it. I defo want to experience London again and I am gutted I won't be able to see Mo et flying past the mere mortals on their way back.
I'm with Abbers, Gul has 3:15 for his marathon target which is 7:27 pace and yet does MP at 7:00 which is 3:04 pace.
17 today, as even as I could do, so 17 @ 7:27 pace. It was nice after Sundays blast and die to put up 17 mile sat a very even pace; I'd post my splits but they were very boring, all within 5 seconds of 7:30 apart from 3 where I
1) chased a fastish runner down2) followed a good looking bottom for too long 3) gave a small yappy dog a sideways kick and that fired up the adrenaline.
P&D still has em down for a 14 MLR but I am racing Sunday so that will get canned for a recovery tomorrow and I may jog down and round parkrun on Saturday. I have only done 39 so far this week so a recovery and race will only get me to low 50s and P&D have me at 60-64.
And I logged the 1200th run for TCCSTFT, it's all mine.
Not much running here due to real life getting in the way. My puddy tat became seriously ill in the small hours of Monday morning and the week has been a flurry of trips to the vet, the animal hospital and er, the launderette. She's had her eye removed after it essentially burst due to hypertension. Any photos of manky feet and I'll retaliate with a close up of her scar.
Woke up with cramp in my calf during the night and it still feels sore, so just an easy run planned for today. Maybe two short ones as I don't want to leave puss alone for too long just yet.
PMJ - 3:04 is still sub 3:15 I'll decide how much the sub bit will be nearer the day. Good pacing from you today. Speedy - sorry to hear about your cat.
Another 3.11 lunch run today, average 7:03mm. Have taken to doing some sit ups and other exercises in between lunch runs in effort to get a bit stronger and hope to be able to keep it up. Another warm one out there.
Graves parkrun are the leaders and they have 12 members and 356 runs. As we are over 10 weeks in that is about 3 runs per person per week. Of the 12, only 2 have done their timed run (until you do it, you are credited with 100% so doing it brings you down, not up) and they are really taking the piss:
GM - the break from mara training has obviously freshened up your enthusiasm. I guess doing 2 x maras a year gets a bit wearing with the 30+ weeks of prescribed high mileage and sessions (not that I'd know!). Core work is something I need to do more of too.
PMJ - nice running. No comment on the bottom following. 1200 runs in 2.5 months is good going from the Jantastic boys & girls.
Speedy - bad news on your cat and cramp. Hope both improve soon.
Gul - being very coy! But I don't blame you, especially this far out.
6.5 including 4 x 1 mile for me today. Miles came out at 6:20, 6:13, 6:13 & 6:16. Schedule actually said 5 x 1, but I was happy with the 4 I did and could feel my calf tightening up a bit on the 4th, so quit while I was ahead. An improvement in both speed and consistency compared with the last time I did this session in January.
Looking back at that January session, I ran 6:15, 6:23, 6:30, 6:45. So much more consistent this time round, and an aggregate of about 50 seconds quicker. Something must be working!
PMJ - That's right, name 'em and shame 'em! Nice 17-miler; I've got mine tomorrow, hopefully the scenery will be as pleasant as on yours..
Mennania - Closer to 2:50 sounds more like it for you.
Speedy - ((()))
Gul - Very wise to be cautious, but don't sell yourself short, as you are in top form.
11M for me this morning @ av 7:28mm, with the last 3 @ 6:50.
I then went to a new physio whom I was very pleased with. After bashing me about he taped me up with that blue tape, gave me a series of exercises to do and lent me a foam roller!
Has anybody worn the recent versions of Wave Rider? If so, how do they compare to, say, versions 12 and 13?
5x400m (90's,90,90,88,90) and 3x800m (2:57,2:56,2;55) this morn after nightshift before bed ., felt easier than last week , I don't look at the watch till I push the lap button so pleased with the pacing.
Gul-3:04 sounds good , 3:15 would surely be sandbagging for you
Speedy-Your Poor cat is having a bad time of it .
ANT-pleased with going to the physio sounds like good progress.
Great running going on - particular mention for Gul - great progress and simmering well.
Exploding eyeballs!
Had my appointment at the ortho specialist today. He confirmed the GP's diagnosis and said the options were limited:
1) hip replacement op
2) don't operate
So as soon as I decide that I need to have the op done, he'll do it straight away but until then, crack on. No problem with carrying on running. I didn't tell him I was doing an ultra in a fortnight, mind.
Gul - another great run, you're definitely in decent form. I bet the marathon can't come soon enough for you.
I've set my Jantastic 5k time at 18.30, no sandbagging from me but selfishly I hope to smash it over the next couple of weeks.
Okay, I know it's only a park run but it's the only 'racing' I can do at the mo.
Looking forwad to seeing what you can do at Paris(?) Mennania as you seem to be in fine form too.
Sorry to hear about your cat Speedy, sounded bloody painful for the poor thing.
Slokey I was advised to have a knee op or just put up with the pain by a specialist about 5 years ago. Stayed away from the surgeons table so far with no major problems.
Hope your hip sorts itself out.
Only 5 easy miles at lunch today, just ticking over at the moment.
Menn - Great target for Paris and you're defo in good form, I hope/reckon you will smash it.

Help, how do I post the race list and now mess up the formatting?
GM - copy and paste it, then Ctrl + enter to put in a new line.
TR - Thanks, doesn't seem to work on my new laptop. I'll do it tom in work.
I'll enjoy watching it on the telly! My race is the week before! nail biting stuff! just around the corner! will get sub 3:30 but dunno how sub!
