I worked a 16hr shift yesterday, finishing at 3am then home for 3 hours sleep before 11miles in freezing cold!! Think I picked up a chill on run.......not been very well since
Next October is my 40th Birthday. So I'm doing the High Peaks Ultra (40 miles) to celebrate Not sure how I need to train for 40 miles up and down mountains...
Spoons- top plan. No expert, but I'm guessing long runs and mountains would be ideal training
Suicidal to go out here tonight- torrential rain I don't mind, but that wind is downright dangerous! 7m plodded out on the treadmill in the kitchen, after dusting it down. I hate running on the dreadie, but needs must.... back seems ok today- glute feel a bit bruised- think I overdid it with the tennis ball
Not to bad here weather wise today, icy cold but relatively little wind for a change!
5miles at 4am and another 6 with the running group tonight.........well supposed to be with the running group but ran the whole time on my own. Made a decision today to try and run without music from now on....... don't know how this will affect my running physically or mentally but it might remove the panic that usually takes hold when the battery goes dead mid long run??!!
Also ended up with a kidney infection....must be a result of this cold weather..... feeling pretty lousy again after being out tonight, more pain relief needed!!
Spoons-Sounds a good way to celebrate indeed! I have this urge to do an ultra some day too........... but that some day could be a very long way ............!!
For anybody wondering, I have spoken to Chickadee today. She is safe and sound, recovering from pneumonia, has moved house, is not running and has no internet connection. She sends her best to everyone and will be back soon.
Spoons send my regards to Chick. Also looks like a nice plan for your 40th. Jason well done on the dreadmill mate not easy I know. Kaz well done on the dark o'clock training hope your feeling better.
40x25m front crawl yesterday and 6 miles easy, today 6 miles easy this morning in a bit of a blizzard 6 to run tonight
Feeling absolutely awful, never been so tired or so sore all over..............Antibotics have made me sick too. Also I think this is the first day that running has never entered my mind, might have to be another rest day tomorrow.........
Spoons - pass on good wishes to chick , Hope she's better soon.
NP- does swimming help running?? Not that am ever likely to do it!! getting me in the swimming pool would take some doing and the benefits would have to be truly amazing!!!
I am now going to my bed.... earlier than the kids!!

Well done NP.
Gobi- like you say needs must!!

The plus of my run is that we now look to have sorted the course for the Newbury parkrun.
5km XC today. 20:49 which is a PB for me of 11 seconds. Pretty pleased as it included loads of steps, some hills and some muddy fields.

Spoons nice PB. I did not do much for Xmas last year but Xmas morning is great for a nice quiet long run!
AGF got out for 10 miles. Very windy but no rain and most snow gone. Legs felt heavy. Forecast not great for next week but it could be wrong!
Hope you are ok jason and just a one-off with the back.
