I also have an entry for the full marathon but I'm injured. email me on ctebbet@rbccm.com if you are interested or know anyone who would be interested.
I think so Ian, my legs constantly feel tired and I've got a pain in my one knee so I'm taking it very easy pace-wise..but fingers crossed I'm getting there!
7 miles this morning, did my furthest one yet on Sunday, almost 22 miles... Got 20 miles this Sunday.
Well to say I'm pissed off is an understatement, 5 weeks Sunday till race day and I've got the classic signs of ITB syndrome, pain in side of knee. I know it's this because I had it in my other knee last year, and it was a bastard to get rid of.
Haven't run since weds morning, I know I need to rest but that's the LAST thing I want to be doing right now!
Going swimming for an hour at 9pm instead of tonight's 10 miler
Jay, I understand your frustration completely. I've had ITBS myself. At one stage it was so bad I couldn't even walk, although that's my own fault for trying to run through the pain.
I had some physio and sports massages when it was at it's worst. The thing is, if you are prone to ITBS, I think you naturally have tight IT bands. The one thing my physio showed me that really works at keeping the symptoms away is a stretch simiar to number 3 in the link below. The only difference is that I bend the straight leg up towards the opposite buttock.
Travelling from the US and will be in Stratford during the race. Unfortunately missed the deadline. If anyone is looking to transfer a half marathon entry, I would be interested.
Does anyone have an unrequired entry for the half marathon at Stratford? My running partner and I are as slow signing up as we are running but we loved this one last year Thanks Nicky
Hope you're all too sensible to do what I did at the last two lap marathon I ran. Half marathoners running past me, pace judgement went out the window. Felt like a million dollars at mile 13, by mile 16 the wheels had well and truly come off. Made it to the finish but I was a tottering wreck and couldn't even walk properly for about a week afterwards.
Learnt my lesson though and have really enjoyed the ones I've run since then.
But I've just done a 20 miler relatively comfortably, without to much knee pain. It's my IT band.
Got to keep my fingers crossed and train smart, training 5 nights a week has gone out the window, I'm just focused on finishing now, sod the time, it's my first marathon so crossing that line is an achievement in itself eh
Jay, glad the run went well today, would be a nightmare having to drop out at this stage. Like you say, time to train smart, put all your focus on getting to the start line in the best shape you can, then let the race time sort itself out from there.
Hello & Goodbye all! After comfortably completing Ashby20 a few weeks back I have been felled by a seemingly routine training run. I can't bend my knee and thus can't run this race. If anyone wants my place or knows of someone who wants it then please drop me a line and we can sort out a transfer. Good luck to all you jogging bards! Ross
I really wanted to participate in the Rotary Shakespeare Marathon but I was too late to sign up. Is anyone unable to participate and looking for a transferree? I would love to take your place if possible.
Sorry to hear you can no longer use your place. Do you still have the place available to transfer at all please? We would be very grateful for it if you do.
I was unfortunately unable to register for the half due to credit card issues on the online entry, if anyone has a place which they are unable to use I would be interested in taking it.
After being hit with a horrendous bug in the middle of March, I was too scared to sign up for this (what would have been my very first half marathon!).
To say I'm gutted is an understatement! After recovering well though.... and completing my first 10 miles this saturday gone, I would be over the moon if anybody has (or knows of) a place that won't be used?
I'd also be more than happy to refund you the entry fee through paypal?
If anyone cannot use his entry for the Marathon for whatever decision and wishes not to go for waste I would like to buy his place please. I can even throw afree an hour sport massage if you are in London

Jay - my training still going well, nice 9 miler at lunchtime today in the sun, with some sprint intervals thrown in.
Still stuck at work now making up the time for the long lunch, but you can't have everything!
How's your running coming along, do you feel like you're on track for any target time you may have set yourself?
7 miles this morning, did my furthest one yet on Sunday, almost 22 miles... Got 20 miles this Sunday.
I'm aiming for a sub 3:45

Nobody understands the frustration
Hi everyone,
I've missed the entry as I didn't want to sign up until I'd seen the docs about my knee

It depends how today's long run goes
