PM that is much faster than last week. Well done you and I'm sure the others will appreciate you making them work too!
Good luck to Master Potter. My daughter is busy with GCSEs and one A level in critical thinking which is a total waste of time because thinking is not one of her strong points!!
Just got back in before dark. It was a very easy run, (I hope I don't get told off for being too slow!)
I exchanged a few words with an older chap in the village, he is my biggest supporter and regularly asks me how things are going, he says he worries about me if he doesn't see me go by. When I run off after talking to him he always shouts after me 'bye bonnie lass' I have had a year of his support yet we have never exchanged names!
I think we have agreed 10 miles A.A! It's not that much in the grand scheme of things but I am still building up, if I managed to do a bit more do you think Spoons would tell me off?
Looking forward to my day out tomorrow, going to register for the Potters Arf and have a long overdue visit to the hairdresser. Then lunch out before going to the football.
I have no problem with going too slow. In fact, I usually encourage people too slow down. Marathon running is about time on feet and consistent training. Lots of slow, easy running with a small amount of controlled faster stuff is the answer.
Re: more than 10 miles on Sunday. Well my answer is the same politician's question re: Wednesday's runs getting longer. Basically longer than 10 would be good (don't go mad and run 15 or more) as long as you are confident you can run it slowly and comfortably without fear of injury from overdoing it or being so tired you'll need days to recover. Maybe go out and see how you feel. If at 10 you feel great and up for a couple more then go for it. If you're tired and slowing down then stop.
Sorry. We have a laptop ban after 8pm for family time! so like a naughty kid I tried to check the thread on my kindle but for some reason it reposted an old post from earlier.
Lol Pottermiss! Do your family know about this? Are they supportive? I told my family about it last year but I think we all figured the less they knew about it the better! They tried to convince me Dubai Dave was probably a fat lorry driver pulled up at Watford Gap getting kicks out of telling a dumb blonde to run faster!
Ok, my husband sitting next to me when name came out of hat at club ballot, he was horrified, mostly cause he didn't know name was in hat at club ballot.
Master Potter is supportive and will travel with me to London, hubby is likely to be in Scotland!
There have been one or two awkward conversations, Chez Hobbit over the years too, usually along the lines of... How do you fancy a couple of days in the Lake District in July... or I've seen a race I like the look of... or Would you mind if I didn't come down to see your family on x-weekend, as there's this race I've entered...
To be fair, he usually just sighs and then starts getting out the diary/maps to book everything in. I'm very lucky, really
Most recently it was, "Would you like to go to Dorset over the bank holiday weekend in May, dear?" And, as if by magic, one entry into the North Dorset Village Marathon is placed
Thinking back my wife was very proud of me when I did my first race which was Sandringham 10km many years ago. Very quickly she switched to "Another race?" But it wasn't until I started regularly running marathons that it all went horribly wrong...... Still, nothing to worry about PM, I'm sure everything will be fine
Lol! Never mind, there's more to life than marriage!
We don't often mention the M word, Master Potter knows about having a mentor, but not Mr Potter at the moment.
Pottermiss has a 9a mentor!
Last September I causally commented to Mr Minni that it was the Berlin Marathon that weekend. 'Is it'? he asked in a completely uninterested voice then suddenly looked worried and said, 'Are you doing it'? I wasn't but he was obviously worried that he'd completely missed something!
So PM - all set for tomorrow? Is it windy out your way? Do you usually do your long runs on the road, off road, flat, hilly, on your own, with others......?
PM - you will get used to sneaky thread replies! We all do it. A group of us from Minni's thread met up and ran the Norwich Half last year - try explaining that one to your other half!!

I was going to do tomorrow's run today as can't do it tomorrow, whoops better go to work!!

Here are the splits for my little easy run:

You need an iPad
I managed an ultra last summer without telling the family
Have you told them you have a mentor?
