First swim this evening after IM France... felt great, and busted through my nemesis 30 min mile mark, with a 28min effort..... very very pleased with that!
Just need to work out how to hold that pace for an IM distance now.
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
Final run done this morning with an easy 5 mile 'leg loosener'.
Could see Rivington in the distance for much of the route, which was good motivation as that'll be where the action is on Sunday.
No more exercise now, other than talking my kids to the expo and registration after school this afternoon, and then going on to pick up their very own race packs ready for Ironkids in the morning.
They are true pirates, having done bugger all training for their race
Big weekend of training (for me anyway!) - 90 mins turbo and 2.5 hour run on Saturday and then a 5.5hr ride and 45 min run yesterday. Things finally seem to be falling into place for me - despite the heat, it all felt pretty good!
Hope everyone else had a successful weekend of training!
Stuck with a stinking cold missed two days training this week and could only manage half my long ride as I just had no power in my legs ( need to HTFU). With 7 weeks left to go till Wales its not what I need really. I guess I will have to call it a cut back week then hit it hard for the next 5 weeks before tapering.
No taper for me yet, IM Wales is still a little while away yet. 4km swim yesterday, 180km on the bike today followed by a little 5km jog. Back to work tomorrow so definitely a rest day.
Still here, 11 days out now and on Saturday I managed to pick up a knee injury that is my first problem that's stopped me from training in the whole 10 months I've been preparing!!! It's only stopping me cycling, but been to for a sports massage today and was told how tight the inside of my left quad was which must be pulling on the inside of my knee and causing the pain, so fingers crossed we can sort it by next week
Well after ironman on sunday i was going to have a few week off from doing anything, only for a mate at work to ask if i was coming for a ride, so i said yes and this morning we ended up doing sheep house lane again.
Been to busy to get on here for a bit but i am still training hard (ish) did my first half iron distance on saterday with the times as follows
2000meter swim - 28 min
58 bike - 2hr 58
13 run - 1hr 52 -
Wanted to build on these time but now my bike has gone caput so i am bikeless for a couple of days. Just means I have to do more runnin. Is everyone looking forward to Wales then?
yes you could I have seen your big bikes and stuff. I was pleased with the result but i want get better for wales. my swim is fine but the other 2 I think can be worked on. Are you doing wales Seren
I've done something to my left foot - not sure what I've done, but it hurts (a sharp pain) when I roll or twist it in a certain way, so I'm sticking to swimming/cycling for a few days and hoping it'll sort itself out. No bruising or swelling that I can see....Grr.
Nice IGIT. Doesn't seem to be many people left now with IMUK and Outlaw passed.
My knee has meant only swimming since Friday. 5 days to go, shame that I'm spending all day every day thinking about my knee and cycling and not being able to go in to my first iron distance properly.
ElBeanpole - which event are you doing again? Fingers crossed that your knee holds up. Keep us posted!
Just been for a lovely evening swim at Tri2o near Reading (first swim at that location) best lake I've been in by far - not a single weed anywhere and lovely clear water!
Did 20 mins on the turbo before, it coped perfectly until I eventually stepped it up to a big gear and then I felt the pain again through the medial side so hopped immediately off, carrying on wouldn't do any good and I now know where I'm at - a hell of a lot better than it was on Friday but not sorted yet.

Hi all - got a package entry to rock and roll half marathon in Dublin to fill...
As it's running and not tri - I've put a thread here http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/general-running/entry-to-dublin-rock-and-roll-half-marathon/278345.html but as usual http://www.facebook.com/buccaneertri is where the details are.

those are amazingly fast times Trotter.......
really?? The bike was flat to be fair.
I couldn't get anywhere near those times if I did them as stand alone events

Very speedy trotter!

trotter.....I'm coming to support at wlaes this year as i did it last year.....
doing outlaw on sunday and then 12 days later going to attempt to do 5 ironman races in 5 days......
so i have the endurance in but not the speed.
Mega Meon Valley Sportive for me today - a very hilly 102 miles. BOOM. Not at all fast though.
Hope all the Outlaws have had a fab day!

It's the Owler in Kent

How is it feeling today? All the very best for the weekend - let us know how you get on!
Week 24 of the competitive Fink plan, feeling tired & leggy today, not really looking forward to a 5 hour hilly ride and hour run tomorrow right now.
